Yes, you have to wipe factory and wipe dalvik cache from the recovery menu. You should also do a nand backup before flashing a new ROM.
Which should be done through the computer right?
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.

Nope, from the phone. Boot into recovery by powering the phone down. Then, Vol Up + Power will get you into recovery. If this boots into your phone, then shut it down again, and try Vol Dn + Power, then at the menu, choose Recovery, wait a few moments, then you'll be in the Amon Recovery partition. This is where you'll see the choices for wiping, flashing, backup/restore, etc.
So after I get it rooted, yet before I flash a ROM?

When I try this it just boots into the phone normally. Do I press Vol up and power(The red?) at the same time or one then the other?
I am using the one click method
Yes, push them at the same time. If it isn't working, then push Vol Down + Power, wait a couple seconds, you will see a menu, choose "recovery", and wait a few more seconds. You will then be in the Recovery menu.
Edit: power = red
Ok I did that and backed it up. To get a custom ROM ,do I start up the phone normally and then download a rom and then go back into recovery to "install" that custom ROM?
Yes, you can either download the ROM to your computer, then transfer the zip file to the phone's sdcard while it is mounted, or you can use the phone's browser to download the ROM directly to the phone. Either way, you need to make sure the zip file(s) are at the "root" (top level - not in a folder) of the sdcard. If you download using the phone, you'll have to use a file manager to move the zip file to the root level, because the phone downloads to a folder called "downloads" on your sdcard by default.
Once you have your zip file in place, boot into recovery and choose "Wipe". You need to wipe "factory" and wipe "dalvik cache". Once you've done those, back out to the main menu, and choose "flash from zip file".
So it wipes everything correct? even "people"?
I am using File Manager, so how do I do move the file to the root level?
Astro. Its fine i figured it out.
If they are phone contact ,how do i make them into google?
I don't believe you can edit the contact to change it. You'll have to re-add them. Do you have phone contacts?
As in the regular people thing? Then yeah.
Just to be sure we're on the same page, go to your contacts, then hit menu > view. A screen will appear that will tell you how many "google" contacts you have, and how many "phone" contacts you have. If you have 1 or more phone contacts, then those will sync with gmail.
I have all of them as Google.
Should I change them to phone contacts
