New 8.9 and 10.1 Tabs look great !

its Samsung - it will never get any upgrades.

The question is, did Samsung differentiate the Galaxy Tabs enough from the Xoom and Toshiba tablets? I think the 8.9 certainly does, but not sure about the 10.1.

No USB ports on either of these. With the slew of Honeycomb Tegra based tablets that are about to be released upon the market, I can afford to wait for the one with all features that I want at a reasonable price.

The way I see it they just did all the Android tablet lovers a big favor! Motorola needs to take note and be worried. The $499 starting point just brought the price war even with Apple. Now all these tablets that have been announced without prices need to step up. I hope touchwiz doesn't turn out to be cheesewiz. I still think I'm going for the Toshiba for the connectivity and screen technology which seems to promise good viewing angles and viewing in the sun, if it launches at $499 I know who to thank.

$469 for the 8.9 incher? Game Changer.

Yep, because they've now got better pixel density than apple, they've got a lighter thinner tablet. Even thought the screen is smaller, it's a better pixel ratio so they can show true 16:9 movies on the full screen.

It's pretty much the sh*t. If only they would texture the back a little more as the reviews I saw said that it was pretty slick.

I still don't understand how a device with a crappy, old 4:3 ratio (iPad) sells anything in the HD age. It boggles my mind.

They don't even SELL 4:3 ratio big-screen/flatscreen TV's anymore, or at least, you'd have to look harder to find one.

the 4:3 makes it easier to hold in both orientations. widescreen tablets I have heard are a bit unweildy in portrait mode. thats why I think apple did it.

regardless, the 8.9 and 10.1 look awesome and the price is right.

My biggest concern was that they would overly customize the UI. Everything seems to point to the idea that they stayed minimalist with it. Which is great. My only gripe at this point is Sammy's obsession with an All-in-one connector. Apple can get away with it because you can walk into almost anyone's home and find an iPod connector or iPod compatible music dock. Sammy had better have a longterm plan for this line of devices if they're going to use AIO connectors. So long as there's an HDMI adapter, I think I'll get one of these.

I actually have to thank Steve Jobs on this one because if it wasn't for his new design with the ipad 2 as well as lower pricing, then Samsung would have never took a second look at their designs and pricing.

I'm still trying to figure that out... I don't have a single 4:3 display in my house, short of an old 19" tube TV in my kid's room.

See, I'm not buying the "easier to hold" argument. A 16:9 screen looks and feels more like a page of paper would be proportioned (Which is what I use portrait mode for), so it feels more natural to me.

Touchwiz isn't all that bad. I just wish they'd make it easier to remove, that's all (Personal preference).

And that proprietary connector is a killer though. You're right: Apple can get away with it, because, well, Apple fans will buy Apple anyways, and Apple keeps a full line of accessories. And, since the iPod is so popular, there's lots of 3rd party accessories made.

They should have just stuck with a USB host, and an HDMI out.

I am super excited for these NEW tablets but also super annoyed because, as much as I love my 7 inch tab, I know I will end up buying one of these bad mutha's later this summer.

I'm just glad they had the common sIense TO KEEP the MICRO SD slots on both tabs (original specs for the 10.1 did NOT have it). I will now buy the cheaper 16gb model and use my 32gb micro sd card and never fill it up.

Also, for those that are annoyed by the lack of USB, Samsung is making a USB dongle for them. It plugs into the 30 pin adaptor and has the usb slot on the opposite end.

In looking at how I use my CURRENT TAB, I use VERY LITTLE 3g. I don't use it for GPS and I really only use it out of the house when I'm super bored at a shopping mall or in the car. I don't think I'm going to get any sort of 3g/4g on this one but will buy the WIFI only versions, most likely the 10.1 to have around the house. If I need internet content that bad, I'll find a hotspot.

these tabs are SUPER SEXY, I just hope Samsung can give the Support to them that Apple does with their IPADS. Support and Accessories make the difference. I hate have a far superior product but a lousy choice of cases and docks to display it with.

10.1 or 8.9. The are both really hot.

Really? Where did you find out about that? This looks like a great pad at a great price but HDMI out and USB are a must for me.

Saw it posted on another forum.

Was anyone in this forum actually at CTIA? How was the screen quality? I know the Xoom is less vibrant than the iPad 2 and is tinged on the blue side. Does the Tab have a superior screen? I'm not talking about resolution or pixel density here, just overall vibrancy and quality.

the thin one will be usa only, sorta lame, us in the UK are still getting the fat one...

Are you sure about that? From what I've been reading, the thicker version was the prototype, but then they slimmed it down and the slim one is what will actually be released. I hope that's right.

This is madness on Samsungs part. I'm guessing that they will be getting rid of the stock for the thicker ones. After that we should see the thinner one. Well that is the only thing that makes sense to me.

They had probably already ramped up production before the iPad 2 was announced and had some stock built up. Now that they did the redesign, they probably just need to do something with them. That's my guess.
