As I'm sure someone has mentioned elsewhere, it is possible to get custom cut and printed covers (skins) for the back plate that will give you basically any visual you want. Anyone interested can go to sprint and hunt around under accessories or simply go to "Skinit.com."

I ordered one last week and it's currently on my phone. The plastic it's printed on is durable and scratch resistant; it comes with pre-cut holes for the LEDs, speaker and camera lens and it can have anything you like printed on it against any color background.

My backplate got its first scratch after a week of owning the phone and, after wanting a white backplate and not being able to find it, I went the skinnit route. The adhesive doesn't inspire a world of confidence but that's a minor concern since the thing is replaceable on demand. My current image: a black "enzo", the Zen circle symbol, on a white background incorporating the camera lens.

I don't think it's necessary.

I know it isn't the same thing, but I have the Seidio Rugged case, and with the camera/flash/speaker door closed, I don't notice much of a sound loss.

Of course, with sophisticated sound equipment, I can measure and tell you everything you are missing with this cover vs the stock cover.
