New Evo Purchase--Froyo 2.2 Installed at Factory

i love this phone, love the feel and everything about it. but mine also came with 2.2 pre-installed but had to import my old numbers manually as it was already past close and didn't want the guy to be there any longer but this phone is great so far.

anybody know if they'll let you look at the epic on the 31st before you buy it. i have it preordered and still want to look at it and see how it compares before buying it or returning the evo (which is going be pretty hard)
Google Contacts is really handy. I had all my stuff synced with them on my iPhone 3GS and then I logged into Google on my Evo and BAM! everything was there.

Also we got my girlfriend a Moment months ago and before we bought it we played with it at the Sprint store. I know it's an older phone but they might let you play with one at the store.

Just wondering, of the people with the "newer" evo's that come with 2.2 pre installed, are you having any hardware issues as of late?

I just picked one up for my girlfriend. The screen has a yellowish tint to it, compare to my launch day Evo

I think its pretty ridiculous that these phones have been so scarce. This is 2010, not 1975! In this day and age there should not be such a shortage...can't blame the screen either HTC because after all, its an LCD.

The issue was that Samsung was "low on stock" of the LCD screens that HTC was using for the EVO. Which was why HTC had to get a new manufacturer contract w/ Sony for the Super LCD screens.

I'm more curious if going forward the newer EVOs that are produced will have the Super LCD screen from Sony over the regular LCD from Samsung.

Like the other guy said.. Look into google contacts and start using that. You will never need to manually sync numbers again.

Does anyone know if the phone they have is using the sony LCD screen?

I was on 7 local sprint store waiting lists. Got a call saturday from the closest one, I was #16 on the list friday (iv been calling everyday) and they called sat. and wanted to know if I was still looking. I was in the store 35 min. later (its 20 miles from my house.) It came with 2.2 and hardware 003. Cant see any light leakage, screen is awsome. I cant put the phone down....Now when I look at my Hero that I gave my wife Im amazed at how small the screen is...lol

HTC is pushing to get these things made and in the stores ahead of the Epic's launch. We'll be seeing lots more of these in the coming days than ever before. At least for HTC's sake we better.

I don't know........seems kinda convenient to me that Samsung, who has its own superphone agenda would have shortages supplying parts to one of its main competitors.....but what do I know.

None of that is true or accurate. The HTC EVO does not nor has it ever used a Samsung originated screen. The EVO has had two screen suppliers verified independently from the community at XDA so far, the original screen came from Novatel, the newer models have been switched to Epson screens.

There's a global parts shortage. For the person saying it's 2010, and not 1975, I'm not sure what that means. It may be 35 years later, but there is no magic that makes cellphone parts appear out of thin air, they still need to be manufactured. Therein lies the problem. There's a global recession and factories were shut down.

If it matters my Evo came with 2.2 as well. I bought mine the day they came in at Radioshack on the 19th.
