Root New EVO root?

I have seen up to 4 different rooting methods. All of them on different forums and all of them claiming to be current. I just got my EVO from sprint a few days ago. The told me its the "new" EVO and the sales guy even told me its not the same root procedure so "be carefull". I would love to root the phone and then start playing with new and more power friendly roms but im so torn on if its worth the risk at this point.

Can someone tech minded link the absolute latest root method for the newest evo? Im already on 2.2 btw.

I have tried the latest method listed in that thread. I get the "internal or external command" error. i have tried on both windows vista64 and w7-64 and got the same error both times at command screen. im stuck and i followex the imstuctions to the letter.p

If you go into hboot does it say s-off and then if it does what happens when you go to recovery?

I am using an evo. I am not using the evo shift. The very first command in the cmd prompt under the tools for the sdk install is the spot im stuck at.

How far does unrevoked get before it throws that error, is your s-off or is it still s-on go into h-boot and check please, if you have s-off go into recovery and see what recovery you have (stock or clockwork)
