For some reason it was only available after reseting the phone, weird but I have both firmware updates now, havent actually noticed any difference.

i think there is a kies mini, instead of asking go look on the samsung support website :P

Friendly reply.... :(

Actually have looked, couldn't locate it, hence my question..

Never Assume..... it makes as "ASS" out of "U" & "ME"

Tried the mini Kies for OSX but it advises that the Samsung Galaxy S2 isn't supported.

I'm having a mare with the windows Kies as I'm using Parallels for OSx to run win7 through a virtual window. It gets so far then when it reboots to flash the firmware the usb disconnects and just leaves the device locked in the

"DO NOT TURN OFF" screen.. the only solution is to drop out the battery.

I really want to update the phone as I'm having big problems with the call quality and people not being able to hear me. I'm led to believe the firmware addresses this issue

Has any OSx user updates their firmware? if so, how?

Updated fine with Kies. base:XXKDJ build:XWKE2

Now everytime I restart the phone I get a "com.android.phone" force close message. Click close and everything seems to run ok (so far)

Noticed and installed new camera firmware after updating Samsung Apps App.

Possibly slightly better 3d performance. More memory available when using clear memory in the task manager.

If u on orange uk then there is a problem. Downgrade if so.

Im on UK orange monthly contract but the phone is sim free and having the same problem.. after the flash update my SGS2 won't connect to the PC any longer. It says connecting then just times out..

Great..

How do I downgrade the firmware?

UPDATE:

I'm now getting lots of force close issues.. Example, When I enter social hub, I get a force close.

What a mess of a procedure..

This is why Apple will win every time..

I'm now faced with dropping the SGS2 until I can figure out how to fix it and go back to my IP4..

Come on Samsung..

If this firmware upgrade isn't childs play to do, they don't offer it.. get it OTA instead.

My phone tells me:

Baseband I9100xxkdj
is that the firmware update version?

If so, then why oh why am I having force close issues?

Any help greatly appreciated

So i've just installed KE2 now, any ideas what the changes are this time, or was was broken in ke1 that required two firmwares in one day?

Edit, decided not to do ke2 since other orange customers are having major issues by the sounds of it!

Wise move.. I wished I hadn't.... Just trying to work out how to move the firmware back to where is was..

Huh? What is messy about plugging in phone, Kies pops up. Says new firmware available. Click OK to install. Installs & reboots phone.

Sorry but I fail to see how it could get much simpler! :D

Yep, just trying again now....I have just reinstalled kies with a slightly different version than the one I used before, not sure if that is going to make a difference, im on 69% so far.

The exe I used this time is : http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...5/20110512115717796/Kies_2.0.0.11044_11_3.exe

Suggest you uninstall samsung kies and the samsung usb driver and reinstall this and start again.

Will update in a minute if its successful.

Thank you, as the link above worked ok and now phone is now updated. Kies is not as straight forward as HTC interface and it took me about 2 hours to get it sorted. Not happy with Kies but very happy with the actual phone.

Whats messy is the "authorised" firmware update screws your phone up so that social hub stops working, you can't attach to emails and every time you boot up you get force closes.... thats exactly whats messy..

Add to that that not all users use windows.. so download Kies mini osx.. oh it doesn't support the Galaxy S2 and if I use a virtual desktop (which by the way, EVERY other program i've used in virtual mode works very nicely) the firmware backup fails because of some sort of weird process samsung have done to update the rom..

I wonder what they screwed up when they launched two firmwares in one day, the first firmware seemed stable (im on it now(ke1)) but ke2 is really bugged, makes me wonder what they found in ke1 that they then tried to kix but screwed up in ke2.
