Help New Gmail update doesn't work

Hey so this new update came out that allows me to delete new mail via notification. So I recieved a new email but I didnt see those new options that allowed me to delete my messages-in fact the gmail notification looks exactly the same as it looked before the update. help? I hope you guys can understand what I'm saying because my English is kinda bad. Thanks

I can't delete from notifications either. I can only reply or archive. I believe I read a day or two ago delete only works with the Galaxy S3.

You actually have to change the settings in the Gmail app to get it to work. It's not an additional button in the notification drop down like you would think. The update just gives you the option to replace the 'Archive' button with 'Delete'. In order to do that you have to go to Gmail app > Settings > Swiping Conversation List > set it to 'Always delete'. Unfortunately, this also changes the behavior of the swiping effects in the app, but the notifications will now allow you to 'Delete' instead of 'Archive'. Hope I explained well enough.
