I prefer the stock app to Handcent, but the ordering is what forced me to switch. It makes no sense how the stock app orders the messages.
I wish Handcent or Chomp SMS had the option to select multiple threads for deletion like the stock app.

I wish Handcent or Chomp SMS had the option to select multiple threads for deletion like the stock app.
Chomp has better resolution and clearer and cleaner presentation IMO, but it does have ads on the free version.
Both of them report the incorrect number of "messages sent" in each thread.

I was using handcent for months until my changes kept disappearing everyday randomly (colors, notifications, etc). I have now switched to chomp and like it better. It has all the same customization, but you can have separate background images for portrait and landscape, also I think the pop up looks nicer. I paid to remove the ads and am happy with chomp.
There is an update to LPP today and now the time is fixed on the messaging widget. Also fixed the FB issue on the friends widget.

Maybe I will check out Chomp and if I like it will pay to get the ads removed.
As for the update to LPP, my messaging widget is still displaying the incorrect time. Are you sure that was part of the update?

I just assumed it was, my times were wrong before the update and now they are right.
