I'm trying to follow the rooting for dummies sticky, but the link for the gscript.zip is down.. What do I do ? I'm new to rooting the Eris. I am used to working with the Droid X. I have downloaded the two market apps, but this step is holding me up. What can I do ?

Well, the message says "The file you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.", so it might be back up later...

I'm not sure I have eu1 gscript.zip file downloaded... (it might be on my other computer...).

But instead of downloading and using jcase's original 1-click app, use this one I tweaked-up that will not force you to use your trackball in custom recovery (although you can if you want):

Basically, jcase's 1-click app get a custom recovery install on your Eris and then you can flash the rootme.zip file to install the superuser stuff.

You should (if you haven't already) read through erisuser1's Univeral Root for Dummies thread (first several posts, at least) since it one of the best documented and illustrative guides for rooting the Eris.

By the way, gscript.zip on MegaUpload (MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service) is back up and available by the way .
