New leaked htc hero update

wrong!!! if you install and run the RUU you wont be able to go back to 1.5 , but you WILL be able to install the final Release.

if you install the ROM over 1.5, you would be able to go back!!

Hi Guys --- Flipz posted this "catch" just for people who needed to get back to 1.5 and also UNROOT their phones for submission to Sprint for rework, upgrade or whatever.

Download: RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_1.56.651.2 signed release.exe Geek For Me – Android CDMA Sprint Hero

Read through this page to the details on the next page, via the hyperlink.

Hope this helps to clear it all up. It is confusing.

Cheers -- Bob --- :D

I'm rooted...so flashing the RUU 2.1 is not my thing...i wait for 2.1 ROMs ...

but I been able to go back to 1.5 from 2.1 using the 1.5 RUU....

Here is the real answer:

The 2.1 RUU leaks (both of them) install a new hboot and also block the current methods at rooting.

1) If you have 2.1 from installing ROM's from the developers, then neither of the above is affected and you can RUU back to stock.

2) If you run the leaked 2.1 RUU, then you cannot go back to 1.5 and you cannot root.

Is that clear enough?

Hey Bill --- yep, those are the choices that users have to make. That is why I will never use an RUU at this stage of the game -- staying rooted (for its many benefits) and using enhanced 2.x ROMs is my preference. If other users, just want to use the phone and do not care about being at the sole mercy of Sprint/HTC, then the RUU approach is fine for them.

The good part is that we have a choice. ;)

Well, it is best if choices are informed choices, and there is a lot of misleading info on this thread.

Basically, if someone flashes the latest 2.1 RUU, he cannot go back or root (as of now). If that is the choice, fine. But some of you are indicating that it is possible to revert. Wrong.

Cheers to you.

really? I've used the 1.5 RUU after using a 2.1 ROM and had no problems.......but I might have to make a thread about that in the XDA Forums so the more advance people can find a fix to that..

as others have stated above, you were able to go back to 1.5 ruu because you flashed a 2.1 rom. i thought you had flashed the leaked 2.1 ruu. and as others have stated, if you flashed the 2.1 leaked ruu it'll update the hbot, and so trying to run the 1.5 ruu.exe file wont work (blocked from "upgrading" to a lower hbot).

I'm back to Fresh 2.0D on my phone. Fresh 2.1.1 started doing weird stuff to me. I did a nandroid of 2.0D, then wiped, then flashed to 2.1.1. All seemed well but my battery life seemed to be jumping around andwas more than 50% awake. I rebooted to see if that helped and when it came back up, some of the programs and settings from 2.0D leaked through and were there. Not sure how that happened. Fixed them then I couldn't make a call at all through the dialer and Nav couldn't find anything. Weird. I did a Nandroid back up and then restored to 2.0D. With 2.0D I am getting at least 24 hour battery life and although it too has a few bugs, it's better on my phone than 2.1.1 right now.

On the flip side, my wife's phone seems to be running 2.1.1 just phone. That's weird because it wasn't running well at all with 2.0D.
