New leaked htc hero update

Not sure how well this applies to the Hero, but on my moment after upgrading to 2.1 the MLB app took an hour or two to show up in the Downloads section as purchased. I was able to locate everything else...don't know what is going on with the MLB app that would cause it to do that...
 
Can someone list the new features in 2.1 on this update? I am hearing you can't even do voice to text?
 
same thing happened with the eris. the one week prior to official- leaked version of its 2.1 turned out to be same as the final
 
Still no MLB at bat for me. I wonder if other protected apps are not listed? Of course I do nt even know what it means to be a protected app.
 
this is sooo slow. Has already frozen twice. Market is getting stuck on "starting download" on any app i try to reinstall. google is syncing every 20seconds.
 
You know, come to think of it, I had issues with the Market today too, but I haven't DL or flashed this yet, still running Fresh 2.0d for the past month. Perhaps the Market is just having a problem?

Im gettin market network errors now, so ur prob right. I just need to dl Astro, then I can atleast install via backup.
 
I had major problems with the market last night, between 11pm and 2am central. It force closed over and over again.

Haven't messed with anything much yet today, but it wouldn't surprise me if there's market issues going around
 
It seems my hemming and hawing over to root or not to root has paid off inadvertently with this new leak. My phone is still stock, unrooted, no address contacts and one & only one app installed (TasKiller). Has anyone done this on a similar stock Hero and how has it done for you?

Can some one please let me know what is missing that they thought would've been in 2.1...
I am hearing and reading diff things of what's in and what's out...
I know there is no live wallpapers....
Is speech to text included?
Friendstream present?
Navigation ? Is it there and working?

I know! What is that! Some major selling point for the EVO? Hope the put it on the market.

Anyone else have anything to add about the leaked signed 2.1 or the rooted 2.1 Fresh 2.1.1 or DC?
 
Well we need to remember its not a custom ROM, so if a custom 2.1 ROM has those built in, doesnt mean they are normally supposed to be there. Who knows, maybe the official release will have them, maybe not. Normally the Hero should have enough power to have all those fancy 'wants'. If not, just root your phone with a custom ROM, and leave it.

ANyways, that being said. Has anyone noticed differences they can list for me that are different from the previous test version?
 
So let me get this straight, you can't even download new HTC widgets? Okay how about voice to text?
 
Fresh 2.1 is working great on my wife's phone that I couldn't get Fresh 2.0D to work on for some reason. Flipz already has 2.1.1 out to solve no accellerator. Haven't been able to find the Google Navigator that I liked. Someone else already asked on Geekfor.me. If anyone else has it let me know.

Another thing this is missing:Protected Apps


Even though it is signed and you can purchase paid apps, the ROM is not registered correctly with the market, so protected apps don't show up.

Except for the fact that I can't activate my version of "Documents to Go", my phone has never been faster, navigation is awesome, and I can use tons of apps that I have been chomping at the bit to download. This is wonderful. I will definitely be updating to the Official ROM as soon as it's available.
 
Yea I am missing a lot of apps as well =(

Other than that, I see no problems with it, seems faster and just overall more crisp.
Lacks a few features but the weather animations are cool.

Hope the apps deal gets fixed soon, kinda gimps my phone without them.
 
Also, I've noted a MASSIVE drop in awake time since going to 2.1. The battery settings control is great, it shows you exactly what has been using the battery, OS, phone, etc., gives awake and total time in realtime plus how long it has been unplugged from a charge.

And there is definite snap to moving around. Going to phone and back much faster.

So far, I like this update...

P.S. Went from 1.5 non-rooted to this. I likey. Other than the whole have to create a new gmail account thing for market and contacts since I had no idea what the old one was...
