Root New lockscreen for CM7

So I'm using CM7 (and love it, thanks tickerguy) but I would kind of like the MIUI lockscreen. The one where it's a button in the middle of the screen and you press it and it gives you like five options (Messaging, phone, internet, ect).

I haven't really done a lot of research on it (I get confused when it comes to other phones limitations) so I'm not sure if it's even possible for some reason.

Anyway I hope someone has an answer for me!

You can do that in CM also....don't have my phone near me now so I can't give you the step by step, but I have 4 apps on my lock screen that I can select from.

There is a great app called widgetlocker that is very customizable, and lets you do all kinds of things to your lock screen. It is a paid app (pretty cheap though iirc). I know there are other lock screen apps that are free, but they do have anything near the customization. You can find the apps on the android market (and the websites for them there as well).

I use the ICS based lock screen in widgetlocker, and I love it. I think I can have 4 different apps to pick, but I can also add more than one circle.

I thought it was a decent app it was laggy at times though which annoyed me.

So Widgetlocker has an ICS one? The last time I looked at Widgetlocker (Has been some time) it just but a bunch of sliders on the home screen or app icons.

Those to me were very ugly. To the point of being an eyesore. I like everything to have a sort of flow, and those just clashed.

If it has an ICS based look though I would be pretty interested. I've heard of it locking up. Any recommendation on that?

Mine hasn't locked up (nor has it done so on my wife's phone). The ICS type slider thing is fairly new (maybe a month or so, iirc). The thing about widgetlocker is that you can download plenty of custom made sliders/locking apparatus things or even make your own. I love customizing things so it is the best one for what I want.

You can set up gestures for the CM7 lockscreen if you need to start more apps from the lockscreen. lockscreen settings -> lockscreen gestures

basically you draw a pattern on the screen and it will start your selected app.

He asked for a new lockscreen, that's just how to change gestures.

Go to settings->CyanogenMod settings->Lockscreen->styleoptions

Choose ring style (under locksecreen style) then at the bottom, custom application

ICS ring unlocker that I use: xda-developers - View Single Post - [CM7.1 LOCK] Ice Cream Sandwich Ring Lock MOD [11/15/11]

I think you would need to make the changes to your specific framework-res. Using a different one would cause issues. I haven't done this myself, as I use WL, but I am sure you can edit the changes to your current framework.

I'm still fairly new to the whole rooting concept. I can flash without issue, but not sure what he means by

Use Metamorph or zipthemer to apply the morphs.

If someone could explain I'd really appreciate it.

I tested and used on Tickerguy's CM7 Beta 7/8 no problems whatsoever, though I did use the flashable version. ICS Lockscreen Note only pick one of
ICS_Lock_CM7.1_BlueRing-signed.zip: Blue Rings
ICS_Lock_CM7.1_GreenRing-signed.zip:
Green Rings
ICS_Lock_CM7.1_BluePressed-signed.zip and Morph:
White Rings With Blue Highlight
ICS_Lock_CM7.1_GreenPressed-signed.zip and Morph:
White Rings With Green Highlight
ICS_Lock_CM7.1_WhitePressed-signed.zip and Morph:
White Rings With White Highlight
ICS_Lock_CM7.1-signed.zip and Morph:
White Rings with bigger White Selected Rings.
ICS_Lock_Big_Rings_CM7.1-signed.zip: Big White Default and Selected Rings.
I would also just use the flashable version it's easier :D. Download whichever version you want then boot into recovery and flash it. I also recommend ICS Sounds which is installed the same way.
Also, if you need anymore help just ask :).

Make sure your lockscreen style is on "Ring", go to settings->CyanogenMod settings->Lockscreen->styleoptions
Choose ring style (under lockscreen style)
*Optional then at the bottom custom application. (Adds third ring looks better imho :).

I know exactly what you want. Download QQLauncher from the market or here and go to menu>preferences>check the box that says lockscreen on-off. It looks dead up like the MIUI one and works pretty well. Even if you don't like that launcher all you have to do is turn on the lockscreen then change your default launcher. This is what I use. Here is a screenshot:

I will give it decent, but better than ICS style lockscreen, I think not!!

None of those a quite ICS themed are they? I flashed the bluering one, and it wasn't.

Maybe I'm missing something, but none of them kind of come out and say ICS theme.

I've messed with many lockscreens in my day and I can tell you that widgetlocker's ics custom slider is by far the closest to stock ics. I would listen to agentc13's first post

It changes ring color from the ugly green to white without being pressed to blue when you press it (for the bluepressed one) and you have to be on ring as your lockscreen style

The only problem is that way costs, mine on the other hand is free :p

True, but I am more than happy to pay for a quality app. $2.99 is not expensive, you can go shovel the snow off my sidewalk for that if you want! (lol, just started snowing here and I wish it would wait!!!)

Can't stand cold weather!

I get what it's doing, but my thing is I'm looking for something that works like ICS without being an app. I've had some bad luck with app lockscreens.
