Root New LTevo owner!!

Hi everyone, I'm the fortunate new owner of an evo 4g lte coming over from the motorola triumph. I took the sense 4.1 update to get rid of those ugly menu bars and I was just wondering if there is a root method for that software version.

There will always be a root method because its a HTC phone.

The problem is, HTC's rooter is a little more restrictive than full S-OFF. You can read more about these restrictions here.

The rootmethod you need is HTC DEV. It is covered in our rooting guide found here

and going forward, never accept an ota especially if you are considering to root the phone. with each ota on any phone any previous exploits that was used to gain root will be closed. the one good thing with htc, they have provide us with a backdoor way to root the phone. the newer hboots however will make flashing roms and kernels harder to do.

so please read the guide carefully and ask any questions that you have.

Usually when I intend to root a device, I don't accept ota's but I couldn't stand the menu bars any longer. Also as of this moment, I don't have the necessary tools to root my evo.

awe bummer......well when you do have them please let us know how it went or if you have any more questions.

:( the worst thing ever happened..... I had to return my evo because of a money mix up. Now I have to ho back to my triumph, I imagine this is the equivalent of returning a BMW to go back to a 95 ford Taurus.
