Root new roms from chingy and tesla coil

I'm thinking about chingy's latest. I'm just a bit put off by having to register to download it.

It does look really nice though...

Gingeritis has been my favorite. Flashing test 11 now. I really enjoyed BAMF too but after watching eris rip every newb that enters the thread a new hole I have been trying to consciously frequent the other developers ROMs.

Cool gmb. How does the 3d affect the phone? Lag?

I agree about the bamf devs. Adrenaline is just as bad.

Actually now that I think about it, that whole site is like that. That's why I have been a member for quite some time and have never posted.

i agree... i thot xda required you to list direct downloads,not link to other sites? :confused: i was a huge fan of incredibly re-engineered on my inc,and have liked perfect storm and gingeritus alot. ill prolly go ahead and register,but i definately dont have the energy to do that right now :p

i liked tesla coild alot as well,it was smooth,got me awsome batterylife,and was very AOSPy feeling. now that we have AOSP,it doesnt seem like quite as big a deal. prolly still give it a shot,too,tho.

for now OMFGB is workin pretty good,and im enjoying the notion of havin nightlys :D

Absolutely agreed. I have been a member for more than a few years now and I rarely post over there. Not a very friendly bunch....

3D effect, Its not bad. The carousel home screen is amazing, I tried going back to Sense 2.1 and really missed the 3D effect a lot. It does take it a little more time to load up after boot but then its pretty smooth. I don't think it will ever feel as fast as Sense 2.1 just because there is so much involved in the Animations. If you turn it real slow you can see all the cool stuff that happens. But it is still very smooth and not laggy by any means.
 
I will probably flash tomorrow. But I thought Scotty was right about the direct download thing... Oh well
 
That Gingeritis rom looks cool.
I may have to try that one.

The only roms I have run are Bamf... probably time to branch out.

Its noticeably more stable and smoother than the BAMF ports (both kingdom and shooter) and the Rosie looks sharper. So many Sense 3.0 elements are brought over you cant tell ANY difference between this and the sense 3.0 ports...except it performs better. Every widget, every 3.0 feature seems to be there. the so called 3D "effect" itself when turned on in settings is somewhat laggy (the one where the icons/widgets tilts with the motion of the phone) but scrolling ect is not laggy at all. This nor the sense 3.0 really like the extreme settings on the lean kernels (freezing/battery pulling) on my phone which sucks because that really improves my battery life but this is still more stable for me.
 
chingy likes to rebuild .apks and "optimize" things for a really snappy feeling rom. i wont pretend to fully understand :p but it doesnt surprise me one bit that it feels a lil quicker than bamf 3.0.

seems he has always had his download links on his sight,and i have never quite understood why its ok... *shrug* you just didnt used to have to register and be logged in,yuo could just lick the xda link,click the link where it took you and bam! download :)

from the screenies i really dug hte transarent pulldown. i just wish sense developers would start blacking things out :mad: id really like some black menus and a lil CM-like box i chould check for a black and grey mms background :D

Originally he had the first few versions of TPS on XDA and got a slap on the wrist for posting a link to an outside mirror.

Which apparently is supposed not be an issue for 'recognized developers' even though it was prior to the titling. Anyway, that's when he moved them to Mikmik. Real quick and easy to register though..

I was thinking of trying this or Gingerth3ory. Once I get my phone back up and running.. that is..
 
i ran the original th3oryOfGinger and liked it alot... it was fast,reliable and simple... id also like to try v4.5 and see how its progressed.
 
I really like this ROM. In fact I like it better than bamf 3.0. With bamf rc3 I was beginning to experience lag. I will monitor that with this ROM and report back.
This is by far the snappiest ROM I have used to date! Even though its not a full sense 3.0 build, it has enough of the 3.0 elements that i dont really notice.

The whole 3d thing is kinda cool but a little gimmicky if you will.

All in all I'm very happy I registered and downloaded :)
 
just an FYI for those on other roms and use launcher pro... there is a screen transition called "cube" thats pretty much exactly like the 3d carosel :)

It certainly sounds like everyone is really pleased with it. I love the idea of the 'candy store', and he has a 'sugarfree' version, (senseless) that is really tempting me.

I hate lag and stuttering when scrolling, and Chingy's ROMs are always smooth and trouble free. I think these 2 ROMs will be the first I'll try when I get my phone tomorrow.
 
Loaded gingeritis last night didn't wipe batterystats yet, but wow on 4G light use only 4% per hour way better than bamf also no reboot seems needed to charge fast. Loving it so far
*yeah no charging bug with this ROM
 
So far so good. Running chingys latest build 11 and battery life is much improved over bamf rc3. Perhaps its the kernel I'm using the Roms stock version.
Still no lag whatsoever. Even when scrolling the phandroid app! Thats a first for me.
 
Hmm perhaps the first hiccup. Netflix. I get to the white screen then it says it can't connect to Netflix.

Edit: cleared Netflix's data uninstalled then loaded my titanium backup. All is good.
 
what did you not like about the stock kernel? whats good about dream? admittedly,i dont mess with kernels much. :o

Kernels drive the rom kinda like the engine drives a car. Some have better battery life while others make the rom smoother.
The kernel in the rom is OK but it isn't as smooth while scrolling as imo's latest build(forgot which build I'm using).
Imo has a tweak you can use in terminal that allows you to change your voltage and frequency for either better battery life or more performance. I use it on every rom.
