Root New ROM's

Lurker
I bought an HTC Evo 4G online and had it flashed over to MetroPCS and now it's using MetroDroid v2.2. I really like the Ice Cream Sandwhich UI, and I've seen many ICS ROM's out there. my question was if i were to flash a I(CS ROM onto my Evo will i lose all my data and MMS?
Thanks in-advance.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you most likely will. not really sure though. you can always make a nandroid backup and try them. try flashing the aosp mms script you can find it here:

Most people here are not flashed to any other carrier. As a result, we can't really recommend anything.

I can't say anything about MetroPCS since I'm not on it, but my Evo is flashed -- professionally -- over to Boost Mobile and I have been flashing roms like crazy and haven't lost any functionality.

If you're flashed to another carrier, my advice is to never do a complete factory reset before flashing a new rom; there is a good chance you could lose carrier data that way and of course never accept ota radio updates.

And when I say, "professionally", I mean that it was done by a reputable company and they even offer a lifetime warranty. I won't mention the company because this isn't a promotion post, but I will tell you that it's not a free service and well worth the price, imo.

Happy flashing!

Im flashed to metro and you can flash any rom aand call, text, and we will work. But not mms. There are scripts you can flash to make mms work on sense 2.1+3.0 hybrid, sense 3.0, and sense 3.5. Theres also MetroMod by kelso which is CM7 with mms working.
