Root New Rooting method for 2.1 | updated for 2.0.2.A.0.24 | 9/01/2011

OK, been farting about with this all morning now and despite having root, I can't seem to get BusyBox installed. It is downloaded but when I go to load it, it says failed and consequently, Ti BackUp won't work so I can't uninstall all the that Quadrapop/Moxier/WisePilot shite!

Help me Superman, you're my only hope!

A

UPDATE: After a few uninstalls and reinstalls, managed to get BusyBox and TI Back-up working. So, I now have root, JIT and TI Backup sorted with all the Moxier and other useless crap removed! Result: Superfast x10i

Thank you Superman!

Newbie question here. I'm running linux, and I've just looked over the "rootme" script file.

Do I need to install these files on the Xperia first, and run them there - and in which case in which directory do I install them? I've already discovered I can mount the Xperia (the SD card shows up as "/media/PHONE CARD") on my linux system, but being totally new to Android I'm a bit unsure how to proceed.

If anybody can give me some simple instructions - or point me in the direction of some - I'd be delighted!

Thanks,
-A.

Thanks very much, but I only run Linux - both at home and at work - and I don't have access to any version of windows. I can add files quite happily to the Xperia, but I can't yet find out what I need to do (using Linux) to root.

Thanks again,
-A.

OK, I found a windows machine, downloaded SuperOneClick and ran it. It gave these error messages:

What do I need to do to get a successful root?

Thanks,

Thanks, CuBz. I'll go back to wrestling with SuperOneClick on Windows (aargh), then. I wish some friendly person would release rooting software which ran under linux!

Used the superoneclick v1.5.5 method. Succesfull root, but my phone dooes not connect to HSPDA network. Sometime it comes on and right away it goes off. Any suggestions?? I've rebooted, take out the battyer, toggl;ed the data connection option. No luck so far... :(

So not follow these steps.

They don't work for Android 2.3.

Please read any of the more recent posts on how to root.

If you are ever looking into rooting or upgrading, using a thread that hasn't been updated in 10-11 months is not a good idea.

That....and you are in the Sony x10 section, not the Sony x10 mini section. The ROMs and tools might be different for you.

Who knows, maybe you do use some old way to upgrade your x10 mini that are no longer supported on the regular x10.
