Root New rooting procedure explained

If i read this correctly you lose 2.2 when you root? so that means you lose the flashplayer? what are custom ROMS? i dont get it....so confuzzling

No, don't ignore it, fix it. The guide says in reference to the contents of "evo-root.zip:"

It contains a few files necessary to root the EVO.
Unzip the contents of the zip to your android sdk tools folder.

So if you skip it, and those files are necessary, how are you going to complete the rooting process?

i'm glad you mentioned evo-root because those files i mentioned weren't in the tool folder but i finally found them. so now i'm going try this again. but the main problem was they just weren't there, thanks for the help. my mind was so wrapped up i didn't look at the simple step

but i'm going try it when i get back home tonight, hope all goes well

Right, they weren't there because you didn't put them there. Those files are not part of the Android SDK, they are contained in "evo-root.zip."

Carefully follow the guide and everything will be OK...if you half ass it, or skip steps, don't expect good results.
