The s3 is $399 now at Wirefly, I would not get it from a metro store.

To be honest, I'm surprised at how little attention the Huawei Premia 4G is getting. People were practically freaking out about the LG Spirit and LG Motion when they came out, but spec wise, this phone isn't much different. My guess is that this is primarily a case of too little too late.
A current look over at the Huawei Premia 4G forum shows a lot of vacant space.

There are refurbed Spirits going to 200 on TheBay.
Nothing wrong with a factory refurb.

Oh, the side power button did that one in for me. Going to MPCS in a few minutes to look!im curious what you mean here?I be just as hesitant to spend 200 on something that will never see anything beyond 2nd-init LOL... well, maybe. 200 sounds a little betterOh, the side power button did that one in for me. If old school semi-auto focus and 2GB are the only cons, so be it. I never use my camera and I have a 16GBSD. Problem solved.
im curious what you mean here?
I too dislike lgs stance on locked boot loaders, but if the phone has a good dev community there usually is a way around it.
Just saying I won't spend that kind of money on another LG phone that will only run 2nd-init ROMs and recovery. And no disrespect is intended to anybody here by saying this, but it's looking to me like LG ICS bootloaders are far from being unlocked
And I don't want a way around the bootloader with 2nd-init; I want my phone unlocked, and that crappy LG UI off of my phone altogether
Agreed entirely, and from everything I've seen, the bootloader is unlikely to ever be unlocked. Never again will I buy a phone that is locked or can't be unlocked.Just saying I won't spend that kind of money on another LG phone that will only run 2nd-init ROMs and recovery

Sorry Im not familiar with the terminology. What do I mean? Mostly my dislike for LG, and it's totally warranted since I own 3 of 'emJust saying I won't spend that kind of money on another LG phone that will only run 2nd-init ROMs and recovery. what are 2nd-init roms![]()
Simply put (somebody correct me if I'm wrong), the 2nd-init process allows emulation of different programs on top of the original firmware, like ROMs or recovery, etc while using the existing firmware's kernel. That's how they've been running CM10 and CWM on the Motion with a locked bootloader.
On a device without a locked bootloader, you can completely wipe out the original firmware and run whatever ROM you want to flash, including custom kernels.
Thank you both, I have reasonably limited experience with most LG phones, I had the Optimus M, was able to put custom recovery and roms on it, my wife has the LG Esteem, I put custom recovery on it and custom rom, and Now I have the Nexus 4, with its unlocked bootloader custom is also fine.Spec2nirvash is correct.
A locked bootloader means:
- That alternate firmwares (cyanogemod) cannot be installed properly on the device. To work, they need to be installed in a way that hijacks the startup sequence (init) and runs a second (2nd-init) set of processes.
- Clockworkmod generally cannot be installed. Clockworkmod allows developers to make cool custom software installs easy for your device.
- The kernel cannot be modified, so no over-clocking.
There are probably even more good reasons to have unlocked bootloader that I'm missing here.

they use 985h's 2nd-init recoveryThank you both, I have reasonably limited experience with most LG phones, I had the Optimus M, was able to put custom recovery and roms on it, my wife has the LG Esteem, I put custom recovery on it and custom rom, and Now I have the Nexus 4, with its unlocked bootloader custom is also fine.
I realized that many LG phones needed difficult procedures to put recovery on but was not aware of the 2nd-init process.
