New system update

Currently downloading 23.11.39 system update. I am not a soak tester.

Just checked System Update and I see it too. Going to the VZ page about this they make it look like it is the original Lollipop update, but it is not, as I already have it.

Any idea of the differences vs. 23.11.38?

Has the procedure for wiping the partition changed with this update? I've tried doing it three times. When I press and hold volume down and power buttons, for three seconds, it reboots my phone, as it normally would, during power up.

I just did the Lollipop "wipe cache sequence" and it is running now. Maybe you held the buttons down too long.

Just updated my Turbo. As expected it was a quick affair. Few seconds to download (it is a 20-something Mb file), a couple of minutes to install it. The longest part of the process were the "app optimization" and the cache wipe I performed afterwards, just in case.

I haven't noticed any difference so far, we'll see in the next few days, as I use the phone with my regular pattern. I wish they had re-instated the "create event" option in Mail..................

With update .39 I'm now getting pop-up ads...oh goody! Now how do I get rid of them? Dirty rat B.........ds!

The update came in for me last night when I randomly did a manual system update check. Doesn't seem to have affected anything, and no pop-up ads… yet. That wouldn't be a part of a system update anyway, unless they want a riot on their hands.

Edit to add: 9 hours since fully charged and I'm at 23%. That is definitely not normal. I've actually used my phone a little less than normal today, too. I hope this clears itself up soon.

I do not want to install this update for the time being. However it did download to my device and I keep getting prompts to install it. Is there a way to delete the download file?

Did you Wipe Cache Partition after doing the update? It is recommended after any system update.

No issues one way or the other after the .39 patch upgrade. But I do wipe the cache partition before any updates. It can't hurt!

I didn't, but I will give it a try to see if helps. I was hoping someone would chime in with whether it's faster now than it was under KitKat. First time I did it, I seem to recall it took over 20 minutes.

Edit to add: I'm doing it now, and the process isn't quite like it's described in the Motorola support link that was posted earlier in this thread. It says the up volume key selects, but it just navigates up in the lists. And when I got to the recovery and selected wipe cache partition, it said it'd highlight "reboot system now" and to select that, but instead I have nothing but orange text:

qe 0/0

-- Wiping cache…
Formatting /cache…

Weird. Edit #2 Ah, the reboot option is highlighted after the wipe is complete. It took about 7 minutes.

After accepting the latest system update, my battery also started deleting exceptionally fast, like 2 per-cent every couple of minutes. It took a while for my aging mind (75 years) to master the technique, and I successfully reset my Turbo without losing existing apps and settings. I will re-post after I have a couple of days experience to report if my battery life returns to where it was when I bought my Turbo.

Well, 4 hours later, have been using my phone a little and no appreciable use of my battery. It has gone down 1 per-cent since my initial report.

In my opinion, this process works like a champ!!

Thanks for sharing,

For me it seems to have fixed the voice commands. It was extremely sensitive, to the point where I had to whisper for it to work.

for me it appears the battery drain issue has been fixed. battery life was terrible before the update. i'm still getting used to lollipop.

I have been running with 23.11.39 for a few days and offer the following ...

There are no real new capabilities in this release there are a number of bug corrections. The new previous apps display had some problems and they all seem to be fixed.

A Wipe Cache Partition under 23.11.38 took 10 minutes and under 23.11.39 it takes 7 minutes.

A number of apps seem to run faster under 23.11.39 ... like ... SD Maid Pro.

Battery depletion rate ... I don't yet have an opinion.

This seems like a very stable release with a number of bug fixes.

It looks like the cache wipe helped restore battery life on mine, too. I managed an easy 22 hours on a single charge yesterday, with plenty of juice left.

Lollipop has been a nice update except for two little annoyances. One is a lack of a built-in report for time spent on battery since the last charge and the other is my Music EQ app refuses to work 90% of the time now. It never failed like this in KitKat but now it loads and the EQ sliders do nothing unless I kill and relaunch the app several times.

Is anyone having bluetooth connectivity issues after the latest update? My connections don't seem as stable (or something) as prior to the .39 update.

In settings, battery, I still have the graph of usage since last full charge. Isn't that what you're after?
