I'm am totally new to all this high tech stuff. I'm coming from a 4 year old flip phone to the Casio Commando. This walkie-talkie will be one amazing piece of equipment, once I learn it.

I imagine I will have many questions pertaining to this phone as I get more into this thing. Please be patient, I'm an old war veteran and trying to update my brain. Thanks
Sandy

Welcome to the forum and the commando. While it's not a walkie/talkie, it is one slick and tough device. I'm enjoying mine alot. had it about 2 months is all. I find the rugged build one of the best features along with the rest of it of course. Enjoy!:)

Thanks for the reply. I'm really enjoying my new Commando. Lots of cool stuff. I am having a problem finding a "desktop charger", the one Verizon sells for about 29 bucks for this particular phone. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have one desktop charger and like it alot. I was thinking of getting a 2nd one also. When I sign into "my verizon" account and go to chargers I see they are still sold out and back ordered. This is the only place I have been able to find them. Usually ebay is my friend, but not for these. The price they quote me is $22.99, not the full $29. Whether or not they get more is the question. No clue when they will get them tho if ever.

The desk charger is about the best accessory you could buy for this phone. Think about it, how long is that little rubber o-ring on the USB port going to remain water resistant if you are opening it once or twice a day? The charging stand takes that out of the equasion. I wish they would have something similar for a car mount...

+1 . Wish we could tether with the dock. The only reason I open the usb port is for tethering.

You can make it a walkie-talkie by using Hey Talk or any of the other walkie-talkie apps though :)

Sandy, I would read in some of the other forums to get an idea what an Android phone can do. It is going to be VERY overwhelming. Don't get discouraged. ASK questions. Folks here are great at helping out without making you feel(like too much) of an idiot :)

Forget rooting and ROMing. That will make your head spin. Just concentrate on the basics of your phone's functions and you will have a ball. These devices are amazing at what they can do. Here's a short list of what I use my phone for:

-phone
-text
-weather and radar
-GPS directions
-camera
-video camera
-flashlight
-bicycle computer
-surf the web
-play games (look into Wordfeud, Words With Friends ....Scrabble type games)
-walkie-talkie
-look up generation schedules while fishing below dams(life-saving info!)

Thank you for your service to our (your?) country.
