HI,

I recently got my first smart phone, HTC Evo 4G. I love it so far.

I have been looking for an app that will let me connect to my laptop specifically so I can watch the webcam on my laptop while I'm at work.

If you know of an app that will let me do that free or lite version that can be upgraded later would be best.

also any tutorials available for android development would be great.

Ryan,

Welcome to the AndroidForums....glad you signed-up :).

Let me address your development question first. Our of our awesome guides here, alostpacket, has started a thread which should, as time goes on, be a very helpful development resource:

Bear in mind that this thread is still under-construction.

Okay, second question...if you are talking about the built-in USB camera on your laptop or a USB-connected one, then there is a solution that I've used in the past. There's a website called Mobiscope - Video from webcams on mobile that allows you redirect your USB's camera's output to their servers (securely, btw) and for you to view these same cameras from their website (web.mobiscope.com). I only used this solution briefly since you can quickly overwhelm the amount of data allowed over the USB bus on a given Windows PC or laptop (I tried to connect 4 cameras, LOL  :D ;)). Also, the USB cameras don't typically have very good resolution.

Anyway, I eventually moved on to wireless web cameras and started using a very good app called IP Cam Viewer. I highly recommend it and the dev has been awesome.

Sorry for the long-winded answer...again, welcome to AF!

Cheers!
