Root New to root - Thanks

I would like to start off by saying thanks to everyone on this forum, the helpful atmosphere around here is amazing and not something I am used to on many of the forums I visit.

I finally got up the nerve to to root this evening, and everything went extremely well. I loaded Titanium Backup, and ROM Manager. I only have the free versions for now, reasoning to come later.

In TB I ran the full backup, and in RM I ran the ROM Backup.

Now my questions...

1. I am trying to figure out which apps I need to buy, Root Explorer or Titanium Backup. I would like to remove the bloat (my main reason for rooting), but am also interested in making ADW my launcher as referenced in an earlier post. Which would give me a better bang for my buck? Is renaming Touch Wiz worth it?

2. Just to clarify if I flash a ROM through ODIN (which I am not quite ready for yet, still don't have a true grasp on this concept yet) this will erase my root and all user info. To recover I could re-root, install TB and recover the data?

3. Would it behoove me to just wait for the update or just flash a ROM, and wait for Froyo/Gingerbread?

Very nice. Welcome
1. You might just wanna install a clean rom as it will de-bloat for you. If you go to jt's clean v.9 it defaults to adw and is bloat free. IMO renaming/removing TW once you have your adw launcher in system app is very much worth it, nice little performance boost. TB is necessary and RE is pretty much as well.
2. Most of us flash the rom thru clockwork which Im unclear if you installed yet or not. Thats your best friend after you root, read up on it if you dont have that installed yet. You can odin an md5 and get your ROM that way but most of us just flash a zip in clockwork. Very separate and distinct processes though
3. Froyo has been birthed but its still not a daily driver, might be soon so yeah might as well move to DJ05 or even DL09

Keep in mind that if you do rename touchwiz you will be losing the ability to sync Facebook, twitter, etc.
