Root new to rooting, basic questions i havent been able to find

To much time. I'm just gunna stick with what i got for now. I managed to find a CM Theme in google play for CTmod. It does the job pretty damn well for now. Ill deal with a theme later. It went from "oh cool i can customize all this" to "I MUST MAKE IT WORK!" so for tonight...i rest but tomorrow. UOT will become my fuzzy little slave.

To quote wikipedia.com -

"The MD5 Message-Digest Algorithm is a widely used cryptographic hash function that produces a 128-bit (16-byte) hash value. Specified in RFC 1321, MD5 has been utilized in a wide variety of security applications, and is also commonly used to check data integrity."

Whats the md5?

If you want an example, below is a download and md5 from one of my threads. This file cannot be used with your phone but you can download it to your PC if you want to see how the md5 checksum works.
From the 1.11.651.2 RUU (Stock):

So download the file above and also download MD5 Checker.
Run md5 checker and select the file that you downloaded. Then copy and paste the md5 (string of numbers and letters) and paste it into the appropriate box in the md5 checker.

If the numbers match, you have a good download. If they do not match, the download has been corrupted and you would not want to use it. You would need to re-download and check again. Depending on what you flash, a corrupt file could brick your phone.

You can also check the md5 on your phone using either root explorer or many of the other file explorer likes es file explorer

So I flashed CM10 on my phone. Made backups of CTmod and did a batch backup on Titatium. I just wanted to check out CM10 and when I went to restore my CTmod backup it said the md5 did not match up. and now it wont let me restore all my old settings with all my paid apps and everything. Is there a way around this all?

I believe titanium will only restore apps related to a specific rom. So if you make a backup in ctmod, it will only restore to a ctmod based rom. (please correct me if I am wrong, anyone,) I remember this after trying to restore apps with titanium from a stock backup while using ctmod. All of your paid apps are still in the market, you will just have to reinstall them. I do it a lot.

hope this helps,,,

I know that i reflashed CTMod back to my phone figured out the purchasing apps problem(didnt log sync up my gmail derrrrr) but now it wont actally install the apps back onto the phone
