Root New to rooting

Try a different launcher. I like either go launcher or nova launcher( I'm using this right now). Both have the home screen in landscape.

you can over clock the kernel(Mason?) to make the phone more zippy.

I'm finding a few bugs on this Strike rom that bother me. First, the lag is still there after 2 or 3 days. That's more annoying that anything else. But, the big thing is it doesn't rotate to landscape when I turn the phone sideways. So, pics and videos are pretty lame.

I do like ICS though. It's pretty slick. I really like the editing features in the camera app.

Might have flash a new rom or two on Monday.

I haven't used that rom but there's gotta be a setting somewhere to enable landscape mode no? If not then as ocn suggested try a different launcher:confused:

I don't recall reading anything about launchers in the guide. Can you give me more details on what that is and how I get a new one? Is it an app? Or something that needs flashed?

Also, I have no idea how to overclock or if I can with this kernel.

There was a setting, just found it. Thanks again!

here are some launchers i recommend:
GO Launcher EX
Nova Launcher
ADW.Launcher
LauncherPro

now i really like nova launcher. it is my favorite right now. before that i liked go launcher.

in some ways the sense over lay is a launcher of sorts. it is what controls the homescreen, app drawer, and even some widgets. i only use launchers when i'm on either a senseless rom or an aosp rom. if i'm on sense then i just use the sense overlay that comes with the rom. the one cool thing with launchers is that they can be very customizable and can be themed pretty easily.

^Nice. :)

Sense is a collection of apps that work so well together that they almost seem like one thing. Google validated the approach when they introduced Android ICS on the latest Nexus. Focus on using data with your friends and contacts rather than focus on apps.

Trying a different launcher is harmless, you can take it off if you don't like it and the Sense launcher will re-appear.

I like Nova myself with ICS. You can save setup, change to another ICS rom, grab Nova, and restore your desktop very easily. Plus, it looks good, works great. :)

I know I asked a similar question before but do I need to wipe the phone before flashing a new rom? I know I need to go into recovery and all that but is using the superwipe.zip necessary before the flash?

Well, just flashed the MikG rom. Letting it settle in for a few minutes then I'll give it a run. I really liked the Strike ICS rom but for those couple nagging issues I was having.

After I flashed the mikG rom and logged into the "market" it wanted to update to the "play store" Well now the app is gone completely. Ideas?????

Correct, it was gone from everywhere...but it's back. Don't know how or why.

Oh yeah...it does that...the first one that was there was the older version of what is now the play store. It has fixed itself every time I have flashed that rom but the first time I was concerned also!

I guess it just took a few minutes to show up again. In the meantime I just went to the play store on my computer and sent "my backup pro" to my phone so I could start restoring my stuff.
