hi guys im getting my tbolt tomarrow, let me start off by saying i am not a total noob to android. i have had an lg ally, nook color and eris. all of them rooted and romed.

After browsing the forums for a while, i am not sure where to start with this tbolt. it is not rooted, never has been and is on the latest ota update. is it possible for me to root and unlock with this newest ota installed?

this is all i really need to know ;p thanks guys!

You'll need to roll back to 2.11.605.5 and you can run Revolutionary to root. The 605.9 OTA patched an exploit, however it seems this update allows you to downgrade the firmware which will then allow root.

^ And how would i go about rolling back considering i have no recovery and the phone is unmodified?

one more question ;) any one thing that this phone is quirky about, or something that i need to remember NOT to do so that i dont brick it?like "oops, flashed the wrong radio for that rom, now im bricked".

if you root with revolutionary, there is not much you could do to brick it. revolutionary hboot protects itself from being overwritten(so warm,so snuggly :p),so you could theoretically botch up every other partition and still be able to fix it with the remaining, working hboot :)

you should be able to rool back with a .exe RUU or a PG05IMG. like the guys said, you can find the root/unroot thread, and the "stock roms" thread in the ATR sticky at the top of the page.

holler if ya have any other questions :)

thanks guys, i really appreciate it. also, wow. feels nice to have a phone with more than 2 and a half roms :p
