alright so i rooted via the unrevoked way it was cake(im not very computer literate i can navigate my way threw but my no means an expert.) Now im wanting to install the cm7 rom, but when I click on the link it takes me to rapid share. I created an account but it says error and all I can do is upload the file not download it. I cant seem to find any other way to download the link. Also tried another one listed in another thread mui or something like that and tried flashing it with no avail i got an error message. So anyone have any tips.

You don't need a rapid share account, just click on the download link that appears after the countdown on the right side.

Other way is to download "rom manager" in the market and you'll find the rom in there

Be careful what you're downloading. You want to make sure you're getting a Rom that's for the Inc to start with, most of the higher end Roms are available for many different phones and flashing the wrong one could spell trouble. I'd download it straight from the source whenever possible:
CyanogenMod Mirror Network - Powered by TDRevolution

^Scroll down to the Incredible file.

Notice how the link includes an md5sum. Quality devs provide that info so you can verify file integrity after download. This way you're sure to get the right thing and fully intact. Here's a link for an MD5 calculator if you're interested, it's the one I use (install to PC):
Download from Bullzip.com

Once installed, you right click on any zip and there will be a new option to generate the md5, nice and easy. Or if you don't like sideloading Roms from the computer (usually way faster download if you have broadband), then you can use Rom Manager and load/flash right on the phone.

thanks for the help I got the incredibly re engineered rom put on this morning and it was awesome but i figured I'd check out the hype on this one. So far the incred. re eng. was way more customizable. Im gonna try one of the warm roms now. My next question is how do i flash the a custom boot animation over a rom? Do I just install the rom and then the boot animation?

thanks for the help

one final question. im trying to get the warmz twopointwo rom on my phone and i've tried two different downloads with no luck so im trying a 4th and if it doesn't work im gonna need some help finding a download that will work. Also he has a download for a boot animation that i want to put on. thats mainly the reason i wanna check it out. also is there a free app to over clock? is it a bad idea to do so or is it perfectly fine.

thanks for the help guys, its been alot of fun thus far playing with this stuff.

Not meaning to question your choice but I don't think that Rom is being supported anymore? Also, you'll have to install it with an older version of Clockwork b/c I don't think it's supported in CWM 3.0+.

If you're sure you want to go this route, you can load CWM 2.5.1.2 from here:
Inc. Recoveries | doug piston

Must rename as PB31IMG, place on SD card and flash via hboot. Then you can flash the Warm Z rom. SD card must also be formatted to FAT32 for this to work.

also is there a free app to over clock? is it a bad idea to do so or is it perfectly fine.

There's a free app in the market called CPU tuner, I have not tried it but it has >100,000 downloads and 4.5 stars so it must be somewhat decent. Most of us use SetCPU but it's $1.99 in the market. I would also add that most Inc users have started to shy away from overclocking because there is a somewhat narrow window above stock that most people find they can run without issues. When coupled with poor battery life, there seems to be a point of diminishing returns. I know very few power users that OC this phone anymore.

In order to OC, you need a kernel that supports it. Some Roms have such kernels by default but others require flashing a custom kernel in addition to the Rom. XDA Developers is the quintessential site for Roms/Kernels/Mods/Etc if you are ever looking for something, that's where the devs hang.

And to answer your even earlier question, you can flash a Rom, then an add-on (like the custom animation you eluded to) back to back. Best to flash directly in Clockwork IMO especially when wanting to do back to back flashes. So wipe data/cache, flash Rom, flash any add-ons, reboot to system.

thats what i was starting to think that because i also couldn't get the liquid one to work either(well it did but as soon as i got to the home screen it fc till so i couldn't do anything.) O well I think if i put my apps back on incredibly engineered it should be good. I wasn't to impressed with cm7 im not sure why. Can i put a boot image on from warmz with incredibly engineered.

Can i put a boot image on from warmz with incredibly engineered.

First off, I snuck in another post above your last response to answer some other questions you posed.

But yes, you should be able to change the boot animation, it just depends on where the dev placed their animation. The most likely spot to look would be in /system/customize/resource, look for a file called HTC_bootanimation.zip although perhaps they could call it something diffeent, IDK. That's the standard stock nomenclature Could be called something different and could even be in a different location depending on the dev/Rom.

Anwyay, I think you should be able to delete or move the dev's animation and replace it with another that you want. I'd just be sure to name it exactly what the dev called it (the one you're replacing). If the animation was indeed placed in the /system folder, you will need Root Explorer or another file manager that allows read/write access to the system folder.
