Hey so im new to the triumph...
Coming from rooted s-off wildfire s, and rooted optimus v.

Anyway, i got the phone used in decent condition but going to get a warranty replacement to be safe, then im going to root, and remove the bloatware.

What i would like to know is which gingerbread rom is the most stable on the triumph.

Is there anything i should know thats unique to the triumph

Welcome to the Triumphant Forums. TG-Reloaded is the most stable and currently active ROM for GB. Also do not forget to grab yourself a ThunderProp and Gapps with that as well.

Thanks for the fast response, i have noticed flaws in the phone already def. Going to call virgin for a new one, 3g seems to time out and doesnt like to come back, stiff under screen and this battery door pops out just enough for me to notice lol. Any way soon hopefully ill have a nice "refurb"

I am looking forward to 2.3 on this phone, like it o erall

The battery door is a problem to all of them sadly, my solution was to get a silicone case, and actually I think one of the rubberized plastic ones would be even better, because I can still feel it sliding up and down in it.

Good luck with that Triumph or any and all replacements you get for it. I loved my first Triumph, then it started rebooting and had to be replaced. The replacement seemed good but then I realized the ear speaker didn't work, it had a yellowish blob on the screen when taking pics, and then it started rebooting. The replacement for that one was new in box, awesome right? Wrong. The capacitive buttons don't light up. Then I went to take pics today and there is a yellowish blob in center of screen. Data even with 3 bars seems to be topped off at 100-200 kbps at all times even though I hardly am off wifi. Then also today my phone was so hot from just taking a few pics or videos and sending a few texts that I thought my pants would catch on fire.

I'm just about to give up on Virgin and the Triumph. I love the phone's potential but Huawei really has no quality control. I have no expectations of ever finding a Triumph that is not defective. That Exhibit 2 with Tmobile for $30 a month is sounding pretty nice. I might just sell the next Triumph, after my next warranty swap, and move on. My only concern is I really hate Samsung phones.

phatboyslim12 welcome to the forums :)

Yes, their are some bad phones out there, but, that is with ANY phone out there and that includes apple, samsung, lg, htc, etc ...

A good place to start would be here

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...stalling-cwm-custom-rom-motorola-triumph.html

and here

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...l-things-root-guide-updated-03-01-2012-a.html

I am one who has had only one triumph, I stayed with stock for maybe 30 minutes, the only problem that I have had is that sometimes after a reboot that GPS takes 2-5 minutes to engage which is not a big deal to me and I use GPS all day long (truck driver).

Grab a cup of coffee, sit down and read this forum and All Things Root

and make yourself a nanobackup mess with the phone till you get it to your liking, make another nanobackup and look at the rom choices you have and make a decision, install it, make another nanobackup.

If you think you have a bad triumph, keep replacing it till you get a good one, pain in the arse, but IMHO worth it.

Any questions, concerns post it here, lot of help here, enjoy ;)

Actually, I feel like one of the lucky ones. I've had my Triumph since early December. Over the past few months, the only issues I perceived were slow GPS lock (takes about 90 seconds) and erratic Bluetooth behaviour. Recently, I upgraded the firmware in my XLink Bluetooth Gateway and my Bluetooth problem with the Triumph were fixed. It wasn't the phone, but the XLink all along.

I am still unrooted and stock, but my MT is really working well. In the three months, it has only rebooted on me 3 times. My longest uptime is 42 days. WiFi and 3g all work well and all my signal strength bars work as expected. As I say, I feel like one of the lucky ones around.

Alot of the issues i am seeing here should be software related. But either way i wont miss the lack of memory and slowness of the wildfire, anyway keep it coming!!!

I will post results of the ooooh the touch wont work semd me a new one lol...

And its nice to know someones here to help with the triumph.
Ps. I need to check out the battery saving section at somepoint lol.

Pbf98:

My guide on the cover was loose i tightened it and now its flush with the phone and much much tighter it doesnt slide easy anymore!!!
What i did:
Used small plyers and tightened the top left "metal" guide on the cover itself.
Be carefull it is fragile and if pinched to much it wont close.
Do this at your own risk...

I would be VERY careful about replacing that phone, sounds like it has few problems compared to what I've heard about other MT's. The 3G cutting in & out could be the ROM or the tower in your area. I don't understand what stiff under screen means, it's made of glass, so it'll feel stiffer than the OV's plastic screen. And the back battery door, you have to make sure to press firmly on 4 corners when sliding it shut, otherwise it won't align, and if forced can twist the metal. Either way, get a case and it should be fine.

yea the battery door guide was bent out on the top edge, the cover has indications of being dropped as does the overall body. as for stiff, i ment stuff*, lint and dirt etc. the data cutting in and out i have realized happens on wifi also so that would be a rom issue, overall seems like a nice phone, im happy. plus i have 14 days to send it back 2 day, if the new one has worse issues ill send it back, usually i can notice an issue promptly.

whyzor, cant wait to install cm7!!!

I'm using CM7 TickerGuy with theOCv1.5 overclocked at 1.2ghz and it runs smooth and very stable. I have the folders if you want them.

What lint issue?

In between the lcd and the touch glass, pocket lint collects on the screen. There are some bigger particles that i can see when lcd is on, but if you look at the phone in the sun its covered in "dust"...
There is another post that states the screen isnt aligned correctly and allows lint in through the physicle sise buttons, they say inc. Vm that a silicon cover fixes the issue

Hmmmm I never got anything under my screen... And I never used a case and it was in my jeans for hours a day... Weird. Is it under the secondary screen protector and not actually under the digitizer?

It's in the digitizer. I have a very small amount happening to my phone as well. I don't have that screen protector on.

weird... I never got any under mine... And I'm kinda nit picky about that kind of stuff so I would have noticed if it were happening lol.

Yeah, I have some charging issues starting to show as well. I think I will be calling VM here soon. :) Apparently everyone is getting new ones now. :D

We will see already ordered a replacement, but they never said refurbished any of the times i called today

Marc
Its not noticable unless there is a crazy amount or larger debri. I only noticed one or 2 tiny specs until today in the sun i noticed it was covered all over the left side of the screen.
