Root new update????

my phone just asked me to apply update. i have rooted and using jager1.6.2. I went to hit back arrow but it started to reboot and i guess reboot???????? should I be worried, does anyone know what the update is about?

Same. What phone is your ROM from? Maybe its recognizing a software update from that phones ROM? Or maybe your phones trying to go back to 2.1?
 
There's an OTA update that's being pushed. Software version 1.35.605.2. Kernel and baseband versions are also changed.

It breaks root.
 
Can you re-root using the same method? Or does it close the loophole entirely. I STILL haven't been able to root my phone but if this will take out that possibility, I'll skip it.
 
Got the update and no I cannot reroot the phone. Damn this sux! Good luck to everyone. Back to square one
 
I got the notification of the OTA update when i flashed to jager 1.6. Thank god i pulled the battery. I then flashed to jagers updated version and update is gone. So maybe the update came from the original version of jarerom??
 
But I want to keep the OTA because of all the things that are fixed and the goodies that they put in it.
 
Man why would I be asking for help here. I need to get root back and I don't want to loose everything again. I have gone back and yes I can get to root under the older version but not this new one. I guess I will wait till everyone else runs into this problem and I will see how they fix it. I have been trying to root the phone for some time over the last day and nothing. The fixes are minor but trust me worth keeping. Oh well. I have tried every possible combo and nothing.

I was just saying your post is the first post that I have heard of all these fixes and goodies. I'm sure everyone would like to know what fixes and goodies you are talking about seeing as your the only one to mention them and therefor the only one who can answer.

The OTA enables the front-facing camera, as well as the quad-laser.

I want a quad laser.... that would soo make all those fools in line at AT&T sooo jealous...

mine says no update available... how can I protect myself against updates?

He is either an HTC employee or a VZW employee. That is a test phone with the new rom that is unrootable.

only proves an OEM version of phone possibly exists.

doesnt prove any OTA exists - especially one that is unrootable.

nothing stays unhackable

@CDMA - you said you got the update noone else has gotten... lets see some proof, instead of, "back to square one", "goodies", "unrootable"... please excuse my doubt without proof - im one of THOSE people.

It is only out for testers which I happen to be one and will I provide you info. Nope. Don't want to get fired. So I don't give a crap if anyone believes me. You will see soon. I can say this it is not a "major" upgrade if that is what you are looking for.

Now is it totally unrootable. Probably not. However I had it rooted before this one and have tried everything in the book to get it back to no avail.

I think he is bullshitting too. I gave him the method to downgrade, all he had to do is test it and see if he can downgrade, cept he says he wants to keep the goodies. I know if my phone got root messed up I would try anything people suggested. Its not to hard to restore settings,
