hiya all,
was here b4 but never got into this forum,just being lazy. i would really like to know about what is romming?? not even sure this is the correct term. i have a mytouch 4g slide and just read i will not be getting any android update. i have heard/read alot of people rave about doing this to their phone. i'm a bit tech saavy, but not a genius. can someone help me with this pro.

I think the term you are looking for is "rooting"
Rooting a phone, in simple terms, means to gain administrative access to the phone.

Welcome Rob! To add to what Mikestony said, some people do use terms like theming and romming. Romming meaning flashing roms. This all falls under rooting though. You must first be rooted, and then you can flash many different roms for your device.

To get more familiar with rooting specifically for your device visit the MyTouch Slide 4G - All Things Root section. Check out the sticky at the top of that link. You can view the guide for rooting your device and see if it's something you want to take on! There will be plenty of people to help you there in that section for any specific questions you may have.
