Root Newbie....boot looped evo for 3 days tried everything!

For some reason the iPhone I am using will not download the file???? I'm not an iPhone guy at all but it's the only Internet I have now. No Internet till work in a few hours

morning folks...so I went in and loaded the superuser.zip for gingerbread as insturcted. I flashed it and was still stuck in a bootloop. So I followed the instructions on Gingerbread edition for boot loops. I wiped everything but the sd card tried to flash the rom again and I am still stuck in a boot loop any suggestions. I called in a half day becuase I can't go to work with no phone.....I called from a friends phone!! lol

I did use the mikg v3.0 and I follwed these instructions for wiping (all but caulkins)
Most problems that people are having when trying to flash a ROM result from not properly wiping the device. To properly wipe you want to do a manual wipe and not rely on programs such as ROM manager. Reboot into recovery, select wipe, and wipe EVERYTHING except SD card 2-3 times. If you are in clockworkmod recovery(first off it is recommended to switch recoveries), make sure to wipe Dalvik Cache which is found under the advanced menu option. Follow this manual wipe by flashing Superwipe found here. Once superwipe completes, you are ready to flash your ROM. If issues persist, use Caulkins Format All as well

what is your hboot?

I'm thinking the browser on the iPhone is unzipping the Rom files upon download. I know Macs will do this automatically, might be a problem here. Also that might not be the correct file. I'm on my phone right now, so I can't direct link you to the Rom download.
Seems you are trying to flash an update.zip that will update someone from an earlier version of the Rom to the newer version. This file won't have all the proper files, so you would get bootloops, the entire Rom isn't in the file.

Edit: Ocn, your Ninja skills are getting better! :D

no I only flashed the tweaks....i have the correct file now for mikg 3.0 can I just over flash it or do I have to do a full wipe again reflash and then create more nandroid backups?

NICE!!!!!!!!
i was holding my breath there for a sec. for some reason a few people that were on cm7 have what we are calling the bootloop of death. where no matter what we tried the phone would not get out of the loop for whatever reason. there has not been a fix yet for it.

but i'm very happy that you got mikg3.0 to work.

Hopefully I can stick around and learn as much as the seniors and help those who are like myself, so you guys can get to real issues!!!

that is all i ask of anyone who particpiates here in this forum. i was a noob a few years back when i first bought this phone. folks here have taught me so much and now i'm a guide. who would have thought. anyways all im doing is paying it forward and i hope you can do the same.

i hope you enjoy mikg 3.0. let us know how you like it. also look into flashing a kernel. i would recommend trying first the aggressive freedom kernel.

will do can you tell me where I can get it? assuming in my new gingerbread dumby book?lol

well the instructions are in the guide but you can also use this:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html.

keep in mind that mikg is a gingerbread sense rom. kernels need to be flashed according to what kind of rom you are on. aosp kernels go with aosp roms. gingerbread sense kernels goes with gingerbread roms. and the same goes for froyo sense kernels and roms.

an aosp kernel will not work a gingerbread rom like mikg.

also i would use setcpu in conjunction with a custom kernel. that way you can over and underclock your phone.

here are some readings for you:

Lithids Aggressive Freedom kernel can be found here:Free File Sharing Made Simple - MediaFire

You want the agressive freedom universal one.

Put it on your SD card. Wipe only dalvik cache and cache and then flash only the kernel you downloaded, then reboot

Another option is the new Anthrax kernel, but due to legal problems for the developer (regarding beats) we cannot publicly post links to it. If you want one PM me.
