Hi
This is my first phone and I spent all day trying to learn as much as I can. One thing I would like to know: I have so many apps running in the background and I want to conserve battery life, memory ect....I would like to stop applications from running in the background but I have no idea how to go about stopping them ALSO, are there applications I should never close?

I could use as much help as possible and I am sure now that I found this site, I will be visiting often.

Welcome :)
It can be hard to understand (was for me anyway) but the apps "running" in background arent actualy running (doing something) unless they have to. Theyre just "suspended" in the memory (cached in RAM) to make them load a lot faster and more efficiently when you need them. By "killing" them, youre making the phone do more work to open them again. Android will learn what apps you use a lot/what apps to keep in memory and it will keep essential apps there (if you kill them, android will just have to open them again) so you have to learn to trust the android system :)

There are apps you can disable if youre not gona use them like Maps, S-voice etc. Just dont disable something unless you know what it is.
To disable an app, go to Settings, Application Manager, hit the ALL tab at the top, tap on an app, tap Disable. (Disabled apps can be found at bottom of the ALL list and enabled again)

Welcome to the S3 world. My advice for the battery is different from others: just keep a lot of chargers handy and charge whenever convenient and stop worrying abut the battery!! I charge in several rooms in my house and well as my car. Ran out of jusice just once in the years I've been smartphoning.

Hey guys I m new so sorry If I say anything wrong but my s3 lags while playing game like subway surfer and while scrolling down please help me

I don't know what carrier you're on (update this through your member profile area), but through my Sprint app store I downloaded a Norton Utilities app that I use at least twice a day. There is even an "app-killer" button on the widget, used for stopping all apps running.
