Root NexTheme ESE81 R3 Release (4/21/10) - New Goodies!

Working good. All (new) widgets confirmed in place and working properly. (I really appreciate all three, BTW.)

Many thanks to all involved!

A lot of nice features in Helix2... Combined with BetterCut, it's tempting me away from Sweeter Home 2, actually...don't know if I can go without springboards now, though...

Oh, ran a couple SetCPU benchmarks "out of the box" and Helix is about 30-40% slower than Home Launcher in the short test and maybe 10% slower in the long test (guestimates, I didn't actually do the math). FYI

Thanks for all your hard work, Fab. I'm downloading R3 as we speak...

Just a simple user question using Helix (or Helix2, since they have the same option). I want to configure my shortcuts on the bottom a little more. Specifically, I want to make it so that when I push the phone icon (which is one of the shortcuts pinned to the bottom) it goes to the "call log" list, rather than the dial pad.

I know I have to set that in "Preferences", "Shortcuts (Advanced Only)", and somewhere in there (either Application Class or URI), but I don't know how to do that.

Could you (or someone) else kindly point the way? Thanks~

BTW, I asked this question in a separate thread, but only 1 reply... no answers yet.

David.

I've downloaded, R3 Release with widgets, everything is working just fine. I'll update you once I've gotten everything just how I want it to tell you about stability, temps, and such. But pretty sure it'll run as intended like R2. Thanks for all the hard work.

anyone?

I don't know (and couldn't figure out) any way to make the phone app default to call log, but I can offer you a couple of alternatives.

-Dialer One, which has a lot better functionality that the stock phone app, allows you to set your default view to Call Log, and you can choose to show or hide the dialer in that view.

-aContacts, an app for organizing your contacts better that the default contacts function, also has an option to open the screen in the call log.

So if you want to open in call log, I would install Dialer One or aContacts, pin it to the bottom dock and set the Default or Start Screen to Call Log.

OK, slightly noobish questions...

Rooted 2.1, smoked glass v6 running which is based off of ese53 (i believe) and I haven't tried clockwork recovery yet because I still haven't learned all the functions of sprecovery.

What options would I need to choose in order to back up my messages and such in sprecovery so if i run this ROM on my droid I can at the very least import my messages back in (pretty sure a full wipe of system and cache should be done prior to installing this)? I am running titanium recovery so I can use that to bring back all my apps once the ROM is up and running. I haven't had much free time to play with my phone as much as I'd like and smoked glass worked wonderfully so I have pretty much just stuck with it but this looks bad ass so I wanted to give it a try. I know before doing anything to make a full back up so if I need to go back my phone can be restored from there, anything else?

Titanium will back up all your messages go into the Backup option and backup SMS/MMS/AP... (it will be a system setting and it will be green) this will back up all your messages, do note that when you restore this one you will have to re-boot your phone after the restore before the messages show...

I also believe that DialerOne would be appropriate for you. I find it to be leaps and bounds better than the stock dialer.

Not anymore, got that fixed! Mediafire pooped out on me the first time and the upload was corrupt. I re-doublechecked this time before releasing it.

Dumb question.. Dialer One and the Stock dial co-exist on the Phone so i could use either i assume

Incredible work, Fab! I guess I should say fabulous work! My available memory increased by 40MB after a Titanium reinstall.

With SetCPU everything is liquid smooth and alot cooler than your R2! however I am getting frequent FCs from Beautiful Widgets.

I am the only one?

Also Pure Messenger in list view. The lists are there but touching the app window causes first Beautiful Widgets and then Helix2 to FC. Anyone else using it?

Finally, I loaded the file without widgets (Moto and the other) can I just install with Astro or do I need to somehow root the widgets? Sorry noob question.

I actually gave up on Helix2, personally. It was fun while it lasted, but I reinstalled Helix1 from R2 (file and instructions in OP, if you wish to do so yourself). That being said, I never had issues with Beautiful Widgets while running it, but I don't know, maybe Pure calendar is causing some conflicts.

As for the widgets, I'm pretty sure they install just through ASTRO. Just make sure you have allowed 'non market' apps.

Awesome, R3 is back up? Was having the boot loop problem so installed R2 for now.
Quick question though, can I install R3 over R2, and what do if that is not possible?

This is one awesome rom! I'm very impressed with the battery life and the smooth feel.

I do have one question, though. Is it possible to disable the 3D app drawer and stay with the 2D? This is just a personal preference of mine...

Download from the market Home Switcher... it allows you to easily switch between which launcher you want...

If you switch to a different launcher you will have to setup your screens again.... also you should delete the icons in the previous setup after you satisfied and settled with whatever launcher you end with. I just keeps things snappier.

see the first post, tells how to reinstall helix1 as a system app ( themed Launcher)

I understand I could change launchers back to Helix 1, but I like some of the cool things about Helix2; specifically, the quick-launch icons at the bottom.

I may just have to make a tough decision based on those choices, though.

Helix1 has the 4 shortcut buttons on the bottom too. The only real differences between HL1 and HL2 is that HL2 has the 3D app tray, and has "Sense UI-like scrolling" where if you scroll past your left or rightmost page, it kinda flicks back a little.

Then that makes the decision easy! Fab, thanks to you and all thise smarter than me for the hard work y'all do in these themes and roms. Sure makes it nice to have a Droid.
