Send it to me, that way i'd switch it out with my spirit and i'd find out what network it is on, then i'll report back with the findings.

You'll be on T-Mobiles network through Metro PCS. FYI the Spirit is running on T-Mobiles network already in most markets.

From what others have said when you go from a CDMA phone to a GSM phone you loose your grandfathered plan. I haven't switched yet so I can't say first hand

Ok thank you !

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I've been a loyal metro customer for 10yrs, and honestly my grandfathered plan is the only reason I stay. I'll be pissed if they switch my plan when I upgrade next year. I might just go to Verizon where they actually allow updates & upgrades instead of making you buy new phones.

It may still have the Metro Pcs name. But it is no longer that. It's t-mobile prepaid. even their phone deals "if you want to call it that" are under T-mobile's policy of screw our customers. Give "deals" only to new people. It's why I left T-mobile years ago.

If you have a plan from $40 to $60 you get to keep that same pricing when you upgrade. If you have a plan under $40 then you must upgrade to one of the new plans. This applies even if upgrading to GSM.

So if you have a promo plan of $25, $30, or $35 you will have to upgrade to one of the new plans. Promo plans are no longer grandfathered in.

:p I'm still on the old $70 plan. Might be a benefit for me to "upgrade"

My girl & I have both been on a family plan, both our devices are on the OG unlimited $50 plan and have been ever since they dropped their first BlackBerry. So if GT is correct, we should be safe whenever we decide to upgrade. On another note, did you see metro dropped the Samsung mega? That thing looks bigger than the note 3, lol.

Now thats funny, true but, on Verizon you are ALWAYS paying for a phone if you get/got a new one or not. ;)

read the fine print. ;)

I saw that Samsung Mega you're talkin bout. It's 6.3'' and Note 3 is 5.7''.

I'm kind of diggin it, but wouldn't buy it unless there was a definite update to KK4.4 or CM11.

Yeah I was planning on getting the Nexus 5. But now thinking about the mega, yes actually thinking about buying a Samsung device. That would only be if they get Kitkat on it.

I really wanted to jump on a Samsung as well, but they're just so to much of a pain as far as completely customizing after root. I mean unless you flash a decent rom it's damn near impossible to get a custom boot anime to work on it what with their qmg file crap and forget about changing the icons on the status bar. My girl has had her s3 pretty since I got my spirit and still has stock status bar & boot anime.

Don't know what you talkin bout, but samsung flagships like s3 are very easy to customize. I also own one since January and S2 before that. Much easier to customize than LG phones. Problem is that you've gotten used to LG phones lol.

Changing the bootanimation has been well documented in the s3 forum and also on XDA, you just have to search or ask for help in the forum. There's 2 files that you have to rename and then you can use the normal ".zip" instead of ".qmg". (only applies to stock rom)

As far as changing icons and statusbar, it's the same as any android phone... You decompile the apk(advanced method) or extract it like a zip(nooby method) and look for the images you wish to change. It's how I've done it on every phone I've owned.

Also if you were to get a samsung device for yourself, I'm pretty sure you would install one of the many CM based roms for it. Samsung flagships always get at least 3-5 fully working builds.

I'm conflicted. I had my mind set on getting the Nexus 5, but now I'm leaning more toward the Mega. it's not as good as the SG S4 but its pretty good. S4 just cost way to much. He thing holding me back from the Nexus is no external memory. The only draw back f the Mega is there isn't much support/development for it. what to do what to do?

I have white one(CDMA). JB4.3 started rolling out for it from metro and Hroark got kitkat fully working it seems from the user reviews. They sell in near mint condition on amazon and ebay for $250(in both gsm or cdma).

I do recommend though the nexus5 as long as you don't mind not being able to replace battery or not have micro sd. Right now it's the lowest priced quad core off contract.

If you have coin to spare, S4 is the way to go. You can open 2 apps side by side and also has IR blaster to control your TVs and cable boxes amongst many other features.

I'm leaning towards the nexus5 because of that low price(I'm considering ordering one right now lol).

that's my only hesitation with the nexus 5. not having expandable memory.

Just saw your other post... If the MEGA is on your list, you may also want to consider the galaxy note2. It has better specs(like quad core) and tons of development and is still a large screen at 5.5'' with smart stylus. It sells for $360 in mint condition.

As you can see I've been doing my homework to see what device to get next. I keep coming back to the nexus5 because of cheap price though I prefer S4.

I cant justify to my self paying 700 for a phone. I mean after activation/case and what not.

Well I recommended you the N5 and other phones under $400. The S4 is just what I prefer for "me" and I can justify the premium price since it has features I want that no other phone has. By the way, nowhere near $700 with activation and case unless you're bedazzling your case with matching fanny pack lmfao  :p.

On a side note:
The S3 is becoming a watered down S4 with the new update. It's adding most of the S4 features to it along with jb4.3 and galaxy gear support. Something to also consider since you can grab one near mint for $250.

I for one just decided to hold out for now with my S3 since I'm really just being greedy and don't really need a new phone lol.
