Nexus 5 Pre-Release/Speculation Thread

Is anyone disappointed the Nexus 5 will most likely not support Google wallet for in-store payments?

I live in the UK so it's not an issue for me at the mo, but I would like to have had the option should it become so.

Hopefully it's just a printing error in the service manual.

That would stink for me as I love using it when I can. I don't know why it wouldn't, though. It has NFC and there's been much made about a "payments" option in KitKat settings. I figure it should be easier than how my GNex was with it..

Would be nice, as Verizon is using the secure element as their excuse for not allowing Google wallet payments. Get around that with kit kat and we all win maybe?

With the move to secure elements being located on the sim cards rather than internal, maybe Google wallet will move to utilizing that?

Wait wait, itll be using a nano SIM? I thought th FCC listings said it'd use micro SIM? Can anyone confirm what it'll be using with source?

Everything I remember seeing said micro SIM also..

More Nexus 5 details break cover in leaked LG service manual - Lastly, there's the obligatory notification light and a Micro SIM slot.

Yeah, I definitely think microSIM.

That's good, I really hate dealing with Rogers customer service and I don't wanna be caught with my pants down asking for a nano SIM for a new phone I bought NOT through them without any notice... They may get a lil' angry :(

Yeah, I'm praying that it's micro sim because the prepaid plan I'm on is new activations only, so transferring to a nano sim is out. I would have to cut mine down and I'm a little bit nervous doing that.

i'm not that up to date on how google+ works. Is the video just going to start playing on the event or is there a different link someplace ? thnks :)

I'm guessing a link to youtube will pop up, since hangouts can't support thousands of people.

"And one of the new features to our Google+ software being unveiled this event, is that Hangouts can now supports over 20,000 people, as you all can see..."

Wishful thinking? ;)

NICE! Don't know if I'll ever use that feature, but I can see how it would be nice. :)

I hope, for many people's sake, that isn't true (that 4.4 mandates the use of a nano-sim). If it is then there will be MANY people (millions) upset that their recently purchased phone won't get the 4.4 update. That also means that Nexus 4 people won't get the update. I can't see Google keeping that many out in the cold. Being that the industry (Google itself) is moving towards the nano-sim I do think the N5 will have one. However, there have been many conflicting reports on this.

I'll preface this question by saying I'm on a CDMA network....

The software (android version) shouldn't have anything to do with the Sim type used should it?

IE, this phone happens to use x, but there's no reason a different manufacturer couldn't use y?

So excuse the noob question, but do u have to order the phone carrier specific? How do I switch phones once I get it? It's only my 2nd smartphone, and I'm on AT&T. Thanks :D

Yikes, this will become interesting. I really don't want to have to cut my sim down for fear of breaking it.

I can totally see the n5 having nanosim.

But requiring it in the android OS? There's no reason to. The OS kernel couldn't care less what form the SIM card is, it's just a piece of hardware it interacts with.

So my opinion, nextus5 with nanosim, perhaps. KitKat requiring nanosim, no way.
