Nexus 7 Buy or Not To Buy?

I upgraded my v.1 to a 32gb v.2 last week. Very happy so far. I love the lighter weight and snappier system.

V. 2 was a good device, but if you have the funds I'd go for it.

It's a very nice tablet, but I don't think it's absolutely a must buy if you already have the 7.1. Only if you are a gadget-phile like me

I only see the 16 GB V2 available> I want the 32 GB one, since there's no MicroSD slot. Fo it right the first time. I'm so excited!!!

I got the 32 GB V2 version today and am so glad I got rid of my V1 version at Wal-Mart returns department. Nice feel in one hand, sweet design and interface, plus great specs. I'm happy!

I guess I don't understand why you would want a tablet w/o getting LTE. I don't want to be confined to only using it where there is WiFi. Curious what people think (while I wait impatiently for the LTE version to come out).

For one, it is mostly for my kids to use around the house, so it rarely ever leaves the home.

It makes less sense for me that anyone would ever pay extra for the LTE version when pretty much everybody has a smartphone which can be used for tethering.

I've been using Foxfi for a couple years now and would recommend it to anyone.

I have a Samsung S3 and I think it can tether, but I've never done that. For a non-techie, how hard is that to do?

For mostly the same reasons that 1up5dn posted plus I already pay for cell service for my phone so don't want to pay a 2nd time for the tablet.

It's super easy, just download foxfi and set it up. I would set up a secure network with a password just like you would at home.

I'm pretty sure that if you are not on the old unlimited data plan, you can also just use the built-in wifi app without any additional cost, but am not 100% sure about that. But foxfi is free and it can be used with either data plan. Just remember that using a laptop or tablet can eat up some data real quick if you aren't paying attention!

Thanks - I went to BestBuy at lunch and bought the Nexus 7 32 GB Wifi with the thought that I should be able to tether it to my S3 phone or my husband's S4 phone. Will figure that out this weekend. This weekend is tax free weekend in NC so I wanted to take advantage of that.

Congrats! I think you will really enjoy it, I know we are loving ours.

Either your SIII or your husband's S4 will tether without a problem. I know, I've had both and have used them for wifi hotspots many times.

My new Nexus 7.2 is a big upgrade over my original N7. As much as I enjoyed the first one, this latest model with Android 4.3 has been very fast and fun. Trouble free so far, I have nothing but good things to say. I bought the 32GB model and it's ideal for my needs.

The more I play with both of them, the more Iike the new one better. It is so much easier to type, either single handed or two handed, thanks to the width reduction, thinner profile, and lighter weight.

I'm hooked on the swype typing. It gets most of what I swype first time, and even pretty accurately predicts next text. What a time-saver!

I have the "original", probably upgrading soon. I have a T-Mobile Walmart WiFi Hotspot. Costs $17.50/mo for 3.5gb use, so I have wifi on any tablet I buy. GrooveIP works fine almost anywhere I am. Why pay more for a Lte version? In 6 months I don't think I've hit 1 gb in any 60 day period.

I'm not sure how strong the radios will be on the Nexus 7 LTE version. I do know that the non wifi iPad has a pretty strong radio. It can pickup a signal inside the building at work where most cell phones have no signal at all.

Are they working on the touch screen issue of it sometimes not reading your touches? Kinda big deal to a lot of people, I know it will get fixed before too long.
