Nexus 7 Pre-Release/Speculation Thread

But how do they expect people to figure out about it without marketing? One thing I could see them doing is putting a mention of it under the Google search bar. That would be in view of millions of people every day lol

great idea, but i think Google is more than aware of forums like these, maybe they are counting on word of mouth.

Wonder how many will order and be surprised no slot? Apps and media keep getting bigger and bigger and cloud access is far more constrained than local content.

Again, the number one reason for Fire returns was lack of storage space for media.

Already have a View, but wanted the Tegra 3 and IPS, and keep at $250 level.

I have a 64gb card loaded with comics, game roms and movies. Not practical with no slot.

This tablet is for folks that are not game and media junkies, and are more into clouds for their content. I travel too much all over to fit that. Not to mention battery life is FAR better playing local content.

And there are 32gb and 64gb versions, so choices ;)

I have too many tabbies anyway, but still would have got this and sold my View, which has a slot and 32gb internal.

Well I think combine this with the Nexus Q and you can see which way Google is going here...

Where are you seeing 32 and 64GB versions?

Referring to Apple. Google is blatantly trying to push people to cloud content, but that constraint and the fact that battery life is worse using cloud instead of local data is a lot worse is nuts.

I just checked my Nexus and outside of nandroid backups I am using about 4GB of storage, I have over 120 apps installed (many of which I don't use). Should I get the 8 or 16 GB version of the Nexus 7?

Google’s Nexus 7 Android Tablet is here. First tablet that will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean!

Looks pretty impressive, I must say, however it does not have a microSD for expandable storage which is pretty weak.

What do you think? Is this tablet competitive with other tablets out now?

No sd slot and less memory than a samsung galaxy s3 smartphone, disappointing. There are a lot of appealing things about the tablet but it makes you wonder what they are thinking about not having a sd slot. You're expecting a slam dunk from Google but what really it turns out is meh.

I am highly considering pre-ordering one. I have been wanting a tablet and $200 for the latest and greatest! C'mon.

The only concern I have is will 8gb be enough? I would mainly use it for music, games and internet browsing .

This is what I'm wondering too. I won't be putting music on it. Mostly just apps and a few movies.

My phone has a 32GB card in it and around a gig of internal. O have 11GB remaining + nandroids so I only really use 15-16 - phone apps and pictures/videos.

So i can see how some people would definitely need a sd slot, but if they just did a 32 it would be sick.

What are the chances of them releasing a bigger one on release ( not for prorder)

16GB would be more than enough for me. If I watched a movie it would come off the tablet and could be replaced by something else.
