Nexus 7 Watering Hole

Ok, for those who rooted and unlocked....I gave it a go last night. After much haggling with my Ubuntu setup and Android SDK setup, I finally got adb working so I downloaded SuperSU and Clockwork and pushed them through adb to the Nexus 7. I issued the reboot recovery command through adb and that worked. Then when I issued the oem fastboot unlock command it just kept saying waiting.

Any ideas what I did wrong? I did all this with my Galaxy Nexus, but I forgot what all I did because that was 7-8 months ago.

Stigy

You have to unlock first. Then do what you did. Weird that you could actually so the other command first.

PM me if you need more help. In fact I will pm you right now just in case it takes you a while to see this.

So how are all you folks liking your N7's?

I really need to convince the wife that I need one...

You haven't seen my new sig? :D
Yeah I love it. It's funny the tablets I've gone through that I thought Android just couldn't do it: NookColor (okay not a real tab) even with CM7 was a terrible experience. Galaxy Tab 10.1 still had (and still does?!?!) that abortion of an OS known as Honeycomb. Flyer is okay for what it is (and the $99 price tag that BB screwed up on ;)).
But with ICS on my Prime and JB on the N7, I think Android has finally had success and they're both a joy to use.

If you figure out how, please share. :D

My wife uses it just as much as I do. Tell her about some "amazing" girly apps or what not that she can use. Tell her it comes with a FREE issue of the Food Network magazine.:D

Hmm, does it still come with the $25 Play credit and transformer movie as well?

I have a feeling it will involve selling some of my stuff or working quite a bit of OT to cover it. Even then I may be better off not getting one.

I'm waiting for the 16GB to come available, then I'm selling the Nook Tablet. Combine that with the sale of my OG Evo and gTablet (my biggest tech buy mistake) which both have done better on ebay than I expected and my upgrade to the LTEvo and N7 will have no out of pocket expense.

Now all I have to do is wait for the 16GB.....and how long will that be?

Yes, it is still listed as giving the $25 credit.

Some folks have ordered the 16GB from Play in recent days and already have shipping confirmations. That's what I am hearing in the shipping speculation thread.

Last I checked, you couldn't order at all. The only option is to be notified when available.

Still shows that way for me too. I'm just going with what folks were saying in the N7 forum. Also, someone mentioned that they are available on the UK Play site (posted just this morning) again, so hopefully the US will get a new batch as well.

Also, Google is turning around warranty replacements, so they may be holding inventory that they suspect is faulty. Or if they have determined a batch or batches that were bad and shipped they could be holding back inventory for expected swaps. Not really sure. It seems like folks posted about screen rise in bunches. One day a bunch of folks in the UK got them (Xyro too) and many seemed to post within hours about terrible color bleed and screen lifting. This would lead me to believe there are bad batches out there.

All my information is based on what I'm hearing from folks in the N7 forum.

I softened up my wife significantly today, I actually think she would have said yes, until I did the budget run down... Then I had to nix it myself :( We spent enough on the dogs this month between shots, grooming, and food, I could have bought a 16GB! (Gives the dogs an evil eye).

I know that when I ordered a kindle 3, I got a replacement for my defective unit sent to me on the day, despite there being a several week backlog of orders at the time. Obviously Amazon =/= Google, but it would surprise me if they didn't have some set aside for exchanges. Especially given the high failure rate of the first batch.

I'll be ringing them for my replacement today, since naturally I've had no reply by email.

I've heard quite a few folks that are expecting or already have their replacements. Hopefully you won't have to live with your defective unit for too long.

Well just tried to cheat and install CM10 without a factory reset. Just bootloops. And, I'm having trouble getting into recovery. Ugh. This is going to be fun.

Rainy afternoon here. Off and on showers passing through.

Little conflicted (off topic sorry)

I didn't think I'd do it, but I decided not to return my Toshiba Excite 10 after all.
It isn't a popular tablet judging from the two other people in the forum section devoted to it, (aw man one left. okay me and one other guy) but it does have some merits that make me want to keep it around.

I feel like I'm being excessive having both a 7 and 10 inch tablets, but on the other hand...screw it! Why not?

Also, to my credit, I paid for the N7 by selling off a ton of old video game hardware which pleased my wife greatly, so I'm trying to be a little teeny bit ethical about things too.

I really like them both (obviously)
