nexus battery usage

My battery life has been pretty good on my new gnex for the last couple of days that I've owned it but recently in the battery stats in settings it says that maps is the second highest usage of power with 11% after display of course.

But I haven't used maps at all for the past two days and it has showed the same thing when I checked the battery then also .

However it didn't say this for the first two or three days that owned the phone. (only had the phone for about a week) .. It was screen first then cell standard then idle which seemed pretty normal.... Any cause on why maps would be the second highest percentage?

from my experience the battery page is often times incorrect as to whats actually using the juice

See if Google Location Services are on (settings, Location Services). That feature will collect data even when there are no apps running. Not sure if that is the reason for the high Maps power draw, but it's worth a look.

You'll find that google's location services tend to be very busy even if you aren't using maps. Many apps will request location service if you allow them, even the browser will ask for location info (google search). You can disable GPS and google location services if you find it to be a problem for you.

when in doubt, restart

i leave location services off, saves a good amount of battery for me. if i need gps then i will reactive.
