Nexus One update: Frg83d

I have an unlocked bootloader, so I just flashed the FRF91 system.img and boot.img

May or may not work, sometimes people have trouble going backwards. I doubt it's a big deal, and if it is, they're bound to include it with the next OTA.

mine has an unlocked bootloader as well. How can I flash the system.img and boot.img...and where can I find them?

Visit HTC - Developer Center and find "Nexus One FRF91 system image"

It's a .zip file, so download and extract it.

Find your fastoot tool (it's the .exe you used to unlock the bootloader, and put system.img and boot.img into the same folder as it.

Power down the phone, hold trackball and power it on again, then attach your USB cable to it.

From the command prompt:

fastboot flash system system.img

followed by

fastboot flash boot boot.img

Reboot the phone, and wait for your OTA. I found the GMail app forced closed until it is back upto date on FRG83D.

thanks for your help Rusty! ;)

By the way, I didn't unlock the bootloader. It was unlocked by default, since I bought the unlocked version of the Nexus One to Google

Think you're a bit confused there fella.

The bootloader isn't unlocked direct from Google, you have to do it yourself.

It's still a chance you might have to update to this one so you can update to 2.3 ?
I got it yesterday when I was out with my friends for dinner and drinks, lol. Good ol' Canada :)

The reason for it being in 2 parts is it includes an HBOOT update. The first part is the newer 0.35 HBOOT and the second part is the FRG83D patch.

I was really surprise that it came in two parts...first time this has happened. So when I rebooted the first time, checked the phone and it told me I had an update ready...I was like, 'WTF, I already did the update, did it not go through?' XD

Rusty, do you know what the update to the HBOOT do? lol

That would have been a nice heads up from the people that already got the update :P

I just got my update late last night in Los Angeles, CA (T-Mobile). I haven't noticed anything major yet with the update. I do agree that the Gallery loads up a little faster. My battery was at 97% after the two-part update. I didn't experience anything like a 17% loss.

What??!! You were not sitting in a semi-darkened room staring at the update screen just waiting for the OTA to arrive? I am shocked! ;)

The first update told me it was a two parter and that after the first part was applied the second would be following shortly. The first part applied very quickly. Not so much for the second. Kind of reminds me how MS makes you update the updater before you can apply the real update. Now I am getting light headed thinking about it.

I did that the first night :P Moved on with my life the second, lol.

*whistles innocently* I didn't read the little fine prints XD

Hey guys,

Yesterday at night (around 11pm) I received the message saying that there was a two-part update for my unrooted/stock N1 (2.2.1). It said i needed to plug-in in order to apply the update, which I did.

The phone showed off a count down, then it restarted and then... nothing, it rebooted in normal mode right away. I checked in "About Phone" --> "System Updates" and it's all blank, nothing special there.

It looks like i'm still stuck on FRG83.

Any idea on what could've happened? Is there a log of the system updates results?

Thanks guys!

Nope. Still shows FRG83.

Interesting. Try this ... Reboot your phone with it unplugged so that the SD card will mount. I'm wondering if it couldn't find the update file. If that does nothing then with your phone fully charged and unplugged, check for updates again and see if it doesn't prompt you in a few minutes that it's there. Then run the updates with the phone still unplugged.

Just a thought.

Nope. That didn't do it either. Guess I will have to wait and see if it gets pushed later on... Honestly, I only hope that it won't keep me away from Gingerbread when it's ready...

Got my update yesterday, just happened - I did nothing special, worked fine 'n easy...

Can't say I noticed any difference...

Cheers!

Artful

I installed the newest beta(Nov release?) along with the new installer and what used to be 6-7MB Swype app became just a tad over 20MB with the new "Installer"! Edit, turns out you can clear the cache in the Installer and its a mere 128kb or so.:p

Don't matter though, I tried using Swype but upon my first attempt to use it, a pop up appeared that informed me that this version of Swype is not configured for my phone:rolleyes:

Did you reinstall the previous version thats good till January?

You have to make sure you wait after the installation; once the installer finishes doing it's thing click "OK" then you have to wait a few seconds while it registers otherwise you will get that message.

I had the same issues because as soon as it finished id back out immediately; but you can't do that.

Damn it. If I came here first and knew there was an OTA coming I would have waited. I didn't get the 2 part announcement until RIGHT after I rooted. I hope I'm not missing anything major.

CM6.1 actually fixed some issues I was having. Market would load ridiculously slow and so would "Manage Apps" in settings (for this I was forced to exit every time I wanted to open it and re-open).

Does anyone know if there's anything major in that OTA? Wondering if I should go back to stock...

The first update notification on my phone said it was a 2 part update so either you missed that or for some reason it was left owt for Canadians.

Been getting a lot of lock-ups since installing this update. I did a manual install rather than waiting for an OTA which would probably never come (N1 was never officially released in Ireland)

Anyone else noticing this?

nah, I think I simply missed it :o Wasn't really paying attention when the update came in.
