For the UK 20+ oC is rather warm. We are just not used to it being much warmer, especially for long periods.

I just looked at the average monthly temps for Cork, Ireland and your weather stays pretty even throughout the entire year. NYC's average temp fluctuates almost 50F throughout the year.

You'd hate Las Vegas' temps right now then. For the months of June - August, the average high is 38.5C

Yes, NYC has all 4 seasons very distinctly.

They measure the temps up by the airport, which is very close to where I live.
The hottest i ever remember was like around 30

Actually spring or fall is the best time. Even though Vegas is in a desert and is scorching hot in the summer... it can get really cold and snow in the winter.
