Root No 3G Data After Restoring Rom

Hey all.....have a problem here that I haven't been able to resolve.

My previous Triumph's screen, running the latest g60 CM7 0.9, cracked, so I swapped it out yesterday at Best Buy. Of course I ran a nandroid before the swap. I activate the new Triumph under the stock rom and I used it for most of the night yesterday. Confirmed that 3g data and phone/text worked just fine since I called and texted my wife before I went on my way home and used Google Nav with no problems.

I then get home and before restoring my nandroid, I decided to try one of the Froyo ROMs for a bit to see how they performed. Installed Minimal Triumph, restored some apps from my Titanium Backup and it was pretty cool but it wasn't going to be a keeper.

Today, I decided to switch back to my nandroid of CM7, so I wiped data/cache/dalvik and then restored my nan and all appeared well (wifi was on) so I went on my way to church and didn't think anything of it. Used the phone just fine in church, but again, that was with Wifi on (bars were green so communication with Google servers was fine). On the way back home, I noticed that I had no 3g data while trying to activate the GPS.....thought that maybe it was a fluke. I turned on my Verizon 4g MIFI hotstop, turned on the wireless on the Triumph and all went back to working normal.

I get home, disable Wifi and I'm still not able to pull data over 3g. I have the 3g icon on, but it's white and not green, so I know that there's something wrong. I tried battery pulls, power cycles, cache/dalvik wipes, reinstall gapps and nothing was helping. I then came on the forum noticed that version .10 of the g60 CM7 ROM came out, so I thought that maybe that would help, but it didn't. Did I miss a step somewhere?

Not sure where else to go from here....any ideas?

Thanks for the help :)

Any way you can confirm that it is not a network problem? I have been seeing a lot of switching between 1x and 3g recently in my area on my phone.

I've seen VM have issues from time to time. I went to Orlando one weekend and me and my wife couldn't get 3g. It happens. You could restore to stock and see if it seems to be the restore. I have had issues with my nandroid backups before also. Could be a bad restore or a bad backup. That happens also. That's why I do double backups and do MD5checksums on my ROMs.

Have you tried a fresh wipe and reload of the ROM and then install apps? I did a nandroid back up a friends MT and I tried to restore it on my phone but it didn't work. Just throwing it out there.

That was my next option...backup again and install a fresh ROM sans apps to see what happens. Thanks for the tips.

BTW, my wife's Optimus V on VM has 3g data, so I know it's not a local network issue.

Well, clean install of the latest G60 ROM didn't work. I backed up my current rom. Then Wiped Data/Cache/Dalvik/Format System, applied .10 ROM/Gapps and still no 3g data.

I know it might sound stupid but I had the same issue long time ago and the fix was crazy simple: settings->wireless and networks->mobile networks. Make sure Data enabled box is checked and at Network preferences, make sure CDMA/Evdo is selected.

^ That was one of the first things I checked.

I'm going restore the stock ROM to see what happens. If it works, have another Triumph here at work which is stock....going activate it and then try my nandroid on it to see how it behaves.

I'm just having all kinds of bad luck! Went to restore the stock ROM, which I've always kept on the SD card for just in case purposes, and now the phone won't boot....just hangs on the Motorola boot splash. I can go back into CWM, restore my CM7 Nandroid and it boots just fine, but the Nandroid from the "Returning your Triumph to Stock" guide here won't boot. Just not my day!

Try flashing the stock rom fresh then use the activate app and after its done it will reboot itself do not reboot it manually let it reboot itself then after it reboots go back to cwm and restore cm7 that works for me no matter how I Bork my 3g.

That's the problem, I did it fresh and it will not boot.

I just activated the other Triumph I have here at work and going to see if it will take my CM7 nandroid.

Restored the ROM to my other spare Triumph and 3g works without a problem.....wth could be wrong with the new one that it doesn't play nice? I'm going to yank the stock rom from this spare phone and apply it to the new one to see if that helps.

Didn't help....the phone just hangs on the Moto splash at boot. Oh well, I will leave well enough alone....this phone is getting swapped on the 10th when Best Buy get's the Evo 4g! Can't wait!

Thanks for the help everyone, I'm not going to really pursue troubleshooting it much further unless someone can spot something that I missed that I have yet to try.

I've had that also. I have also had it look like it's stuck after the moto logo and then like ten minutes later be just fine. Not much troubleshooting help, I know, but I just thought I would throw that out there.

On your cm7 nandroid, you say that the 3g icon is white and not colored. that means that your account isn't synced up properly. Try removing your google account and then putting it back on.

The only other time I had this issue was in my first month with VMUSA when their customer service asked me to introduce the code to "reset" my data connection and that killed my data for a week. I thought the phone was faulty, exchanged it at BBY but data still didn't work. Turn out it was something on VMUSA's side as data started working again the night my 2nd month started.

Last suggestion: there's an app called Restart Connections, you can find it in Google Play. It does exactly what the title says.

If you can't go back to stock ROM, try pulling the battery, wait 30 sec, then try again. This trick saved my b*** couple of times.

I pulled the battery on it yesterday before I left work, powered it on this AM and still refuses to boot, just hung up on the Moto boot logo, not even the stock animated one that comes on afterwards.

I wonder if there's some sort of hardware difference between this new one and my older one? I've done wipe and reloads countless times and never had a problem. On my spare Triumph, I loaded up the latest CWM 5.5.0.4 No Touch Screen version and I have no error messages.....on this new one, that same CWM has the following error message at the bottom:

E:can't mount /cache/recovery/command

Not sure why one would have it and not the other if not for some sort of hardware difference between the 2.

probly cause you updated the CWM, there was a 5.5.0.4 which would have had a bunch of E:/ "errors" the new non touchscreen 5.5.0.4 with the added power off option only shows the 1 E: error

well for me anyway, i had 5.5.0.4 which didnt have the power off option, it had the normal ones i see, about 4-5 of those errors, i noticed today and installed mantera update to 5.5.0.4-something, which does have the power off option and now theres only 1 of them

either way these E:/ cache or whatever are normal in CWM recovery, ive seen them ever since i first installed it
