Help No Bluetooth Streaming or A2DP after ICS Upgrade.

Right, I know something is now seriously amiss.

I've now backed up, installed a new hard drive, a fresh copy on Windows 7 (32-bit) this time around and reinstalled most of the software and device drivers.

The problem is still extant, now here's the odd bit. If I try using my phone with my Sony Vaio laptop (Windows 7 x64 Pro), it will do a complete linkage, I can do phone calls & media streaming without the slightest problem.

Now can someone explain that one, because I know that with a completely clean install of Win 7 on my main PC I really don't know what is wrong!

I am willing to try using Odin, all I need to know where the firmware update files are and I'll give it a shot.

Ta.

@The Driver
Yes this is really peculiar.

You had mentioned that you are under warranty, why don't you take it to the service center and ask them to do a flash and mention your problem to them.

We can give you the firmware file links but yours being a slightly peculiar problem I would just advise you to backup everything and take the phone for servicing.

Just an update.

I've now got the car to connect to the phone via BT , that now just leaves the PC problem.

I have noticed that I now have a problem with Kies dropping the connection to the phone via USB, which stops me doing a complete restoration of files!

I'm now getting to the point where I am considering going to the darkside and buying an Iphone.

A further update...

I have successfully connected it to a plantronics BB903+ headset with full facilities.

@Forbidden403.

I don't ever get a screen on Windows 7 for Bluetooth devices.

Hi The Driver,

How did you resolve your car issue?

I updated my SGS2 to ICS a few weeks ago and could not get the phone to pair with either my 18 month old VAG bluetooth system (RDAP?) or my old parrot ck3000 headset (5+ years old, HFP only I guess?). I did a bit of googling and found it was a common problem so I gave up and went back to gingerbread.

I got someone to use Odin, do the firmware upgrade again and it's worked fine ever since

However the PC issue is still extant. Unless I try bluesoleil, then it works, but I object to paying

Hi, new here so please dont bite :)
i have been experiencing issues since i upgraded to ics through kies on 3network
bluetooth will connect to radiosat and then every 10 minutes or so will loose connection which interupts the radio with a click sound and will then re connect for another 10 minutes...
this used to connect all the time with no problems whatsoever before the upgrade.i also have a works blackberry which connects to the car and stays connected no problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do?
i have tried to go through all the settings i can find on the phone to see if there is anything on it set to do that ie power saving features but cant see anything which is making me think something is missing or changed since the upgrade

I'm having issues with Poweramp as well since the upgrade to ICS, with loads of snap, crackle & popping.

I've also had to buy BlueSoleil 8 (

I am having an issue with the "Remote SIM" mode after upgrading my SGS2 to ICS. I use the phone in my VW Passat with the "Premium BT set" where I can choose the mode I want to connect the phone with the car between "BT" and "Remote SIM".
While the phone had GB installed during pairing with the car I needed to take three steps: 1. confirm the BT pairing code generated by the car, 2. confirm authorization for the car to access the contact list and 3. while setting up the user profile in the car I also needed to enter the phone's PIN code to allow the car's BT to access the SIM card directly. After doing that the phone would connect to the car and the GSM signal indicator in the status bar of the phone would disappear. On the car main display in the Phone interface I could access the contact list, call history, direct dialling and also SMS.
Now after the upgrade to ICS I can only do the steps 1. and 2. while pairing the phone and the car but it does not ask me to enter the phone’s PIN code. It still connects and the contact list gets downloaded to the car though and what surprises me the most is that the GSM signal on the car’s display shows much stronger (full most of the time) signal, than the signal strength indicator on the phone’s display. The SMS functions are gone completely from the car’s display.
So it feels like I am somewhere between the plain "BT" and the full "Remote SIM" mode. I thought there could be an option in the phone’s settings allowing the remote SIM mode activation but could not find it. Would you have an idea where to look?
Thanks!

I'm afraid not, I tend to think that it was "Pot Luck" that I got my BT to car connection to work again!

Really not happy with ICS on my phone, I've been looking for Official GB roms without much success as the sites that were purported to have them have had them removed.

Here's the thread you're looking for:
[ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KL1/2/3/LA2,4/LB2,LPE/Q/7/2/F/S/4/7/G Download - xda-developers

And here's a direct link to the latest official GB release for the unbranded UK SGS2 prior to ICS (the firmware you were on prior to update);
skywanker.net - download

So for the record what codes should I/we be looking for, for unbranded (Sim Free) UK, Gingerbread Roms?

Sorry to be a pain, it's just I'm just about out on my feet at the moment, as I'm on 3am start shifts, so I need to make sure the codes are correct 1st time around and asking someone who's more with it, is the best solution at the moment.

Hello all,

I found this topic as I am suffering from the same issue as the TS. I upgraded from 2.3.6 to ICS 4.0.3, which is:

PDA: I9100XWLPD
CSC: I9100XENLP5
Version: 4.0.3
Date: 2012-05-13

I connect to a Toyota Prius 2010 head unit (HDD satnav) and on 4.0.3 I also suffer from stuttering. When reverting back to 2.3.6, there are no problems whatsoever. I did tried both an upgrade from KIES, as well as a full wipe and reinstall, both with the same results.

Therefore, I don't think it is a hardware issue, but a BT driver issue.

Now as the TS has solved the issue with bluetooth streaming, I am pretty curious how this was fixed, as I could not get it working.

Could you please enlighten me?

Thanks!!!

Gerco

Same here, will play like it did on Gingerbread with no problems at all, but then after around 10 mins will disconnect, like it's a sleep function or something and phone will crash. It's no big deal as I have a USB connection for a flash drive on my car radio, but still it's bug that needs addressing.

After the ICS update my Pioneer deck no longer displays song names, just says I9100. I can make calls and browse phone book just fine, switch to next and previous song pause and play but no file names.

I am also having a host of issues after upgrading to ICS which is a real shame and something i would not have expected :-(

One of them is losing the ability to have bluetooth connection in my car. i upgraded over wi-fi so am going to try and redo it using Kies as it seems people have had more success that way.

It may NOT be your phone that's at fault.

It maybe the fact that your car's Bluetooth system may use the old Nokia system rSAP, which Android doesn't support natively.

If your car's Bluetooth system is HFP then it should accept the phone without any problem.

Try deleting the Bluetooth system that your car was before & then do a rescan and try again, it may accept it.

There is an rSAP app in the play store, however it is a paid for app & does have limitations.

If its the cars Bluetooth at fault, why is the phone crashing? It plays just like it should for a couple of songs then the phone crashes, no overheating,no problem with the car stereo. It worked fine on GB which tells me it's the new software, however when I was on GB I had that voice echo problem that lots of people had and it was really annoying when people were telling me they could hear their own voice when I was talking to them.
So overall I will stick with ICS and hope for a bug fix

tried backing up phone via Kies, then doing a restore after reading some other threads. Kies does not actually restore anything on the phone though even though it says it has completed. So I now have a wiped phone as well as the other problems.

Dont use Kies to backup / restore data it doesnt work properly!

It might be a good idea to take your phone to a service centre, you seem to be having a lot of the symptoms that I was having and despite numerous factory wipes & resets etc, none worked.

However when it came back from the repair centre after a few "wobbles" it has now settled down nicely and is working well.

So take it to the repair centre with a written explanation of what is happening (my repair list was 2 A4 sheets long!).

They got mine working again. :)
