Help No Call Forwarding??

It says in the manual that there is call forwarding but when i navigate to it in the settings its not there?! I will be traveling to a part of hawaii that has no reception at all and would like the calls forwarded to an ATT phone. Help!
 
Virgin Mobile does not have call forwarding, nor does Boost. Probably none of the Sprint MVNOs have it. If you want it you will have to migrate to Sprint.

However you could do this. Two options. I use this and it is super sweet.
Option 1, Port your number over to Google Voice or, Option 2, as I did, just accept one of their free numbers. You can add any number of phones to the list once you are signed up (and did I mention that it is all free like their email.) Just give out your Google Voice number and have GV forward that number to your phone, your house phone, any phone. You can add all your phones to it and have them all ring at the same time.
And it works with VM. You just have to have a GV number for people to call.
To get Google Voice you will need a GMail acct.
 
I've used Google Voice for a while, first with Verizon and now with VM. It works much better when the carrier supports selective call forwarding as VZW did. It works decntly with VM, as long as I'm in a service area. When I'm not, even though now I have VM voicemail disabled on my account, calls still forwarded to the VM voicemail system which states my mailbox is invalid. Not a great solution, and totally VM's fault on that, but I get what I pay for.

Google voice is great and I still use it for all it's worth, but do know that it does have its limitations, which to me are few, and really the fault of VM not supporting alternative voice mail systems (even though Sprint and GV are in a partnership now).
 
So I port a number to GV and set my VM cell to handle it (forward to VM).

If your VM voicemail is not disabled, I gather the calls forwarded to a VM number go to the VM voicemail not the GV voicemail when not answered and probably the GV voicemail if the VM phone is off or no service. What if another, say, verizon cell is also a forwarding number to the GV call?

I gather the hassle is calls end up in both the GV and VM voicemails. I can live with that with some displeasure.

How does caller ID work? Or does it? i.e. I'd see the incoming caller ID on my VM phone?

The number in question is a contact for my sexual assault advocacy and each call is quite sincerely very important to me. I hesitate to just try it without some predictability though those features would be very useful.
 
If your calls are that important then VM is not a good choice of carriers for you, the service drops and is out for days at a time. You may want to rethink your choice of carriers

When people call me on GV no matter what phone I have it shows who the caller is so yah I guess the caller ID works through GV to your phone. Also something I did not expect to work is texting. When people text to my GV number it comes through to my phone. I figured those would get hung up and I would have to log in to GV to see them.
But they come through.
Also GV has a pre call screening thing. When someone calles your GV number it asks them their name, they give it, and then it calls you, says you have a call from -their name- and you can answer it or let it go to voice mail.
Remember too, you can add and remove phones from this service at your convenience, check a box or uncheck. Also no matter what phone you have. If people call the actual number of that phone the call will always go through to it. GV gives you the option of another number for one phone or being able to use one number for many phones.
It may not be the right thing for everyone but it works great for my needs.
 
I seem to recall a thread about GV and call forwarding or something to do with GV in the OV forum and IF IIRC they had to call VMUSA CS and get them to disable vm or something like that. Best to do a search in that forum and see if it turns up more info.
 
I remember someone saying it would not work with VM, I just added my Triumph to the GV list and called myself. Worked fine.

I have never gone a single minute without phone and text abilities,these statements only apply to weak coverage areas,i am sure many of us do not have coverage issues,maybe it is time to choose a different carrier.but do not make it sound like it is a Nationwide issue.

I am mostly located in the Minneapolis "urban core" and service is ok these last 3 weeks. Considering the funding of sexual assault services, VM at $25/mo is the only option! lol No $70-100 possible.

What I heard IIRC is if you disable VM VM thru CS, unanswered calls go to GV VM but if you reject them, it will go to a VM message that voicemail is not setup for this account or some such error. Better, not quite right.

Google voice looks like it will be quite beneficial. I'll try it.

Virgin only parly works with Google Voice.

Normally, you can set up Google Voice as the voicemail provider for your phone by setting up "Call forward on busy." You dial a special code (Usually *28 or something like that) followed by your Google Voice access number. Then, when people call you, and you don't answer or you're on a call, the call gets forwarded to your Google Voice voicemail.

What happens with Virgin is that there's no way to forward on busy (Virgin doesn't support any kind of call forwarding), so there's no way to redirect calls from your Virgin number to your Google Voice number.

However, you CAN receive calls through your Google Voice number normally. The problem there is that your Virgin voicemail may pick up before Google's voice mail picks up... so you can't be sure that a caller will get your Google voice mail.

The solution there is to call Virgin's customer care and ask to have your voice mail disabled. I did that last night, and it just took a couple of minutes. The only catch there is that you need to get people to call your Google number, NOT your Virgin number. If they call your Virgin number, and you don't answer, your voice mail will never answer.

Personally, I've always tried to give people my Google Voice number anyway, so that I can freely switch cell phone providers without needing to worry about porting and losing my number. Since my 8 year old daughter has memorized my Google Voice number, I really can't get rid of it. That's the number she will call if she has an emergency.
 
I use anycut from the market and select activity then scroll down to call forwarding in theory it should work but knowing Virgin Mobile they probably don't allow it hopes this helps.
