i have a rooted evo and recently when i attempted to use a wifi hotspot app, i noticed my laptop detected the adroid tether, but after connecting i noticed i was not receiving any data. the android tether said "limited access". obviously the wifi apt is working in that it detects the signal from my evo, but no data transfer is taking place. does anyone have any info on any recent sprint update that may have rendered my hotspot function useless? any suggestions? i cleared all caches , uninstalled and re-installed wifi apps. have even attempted to re-root my phone by running unrevoked 3. could not do this successfully.

Root no data with hotspot

what rom are you on? what kernel are you using?
unrevoked will not work if you are already rooted. did you unroot? what is your hboot?
Are you using the built in sprint hotspot app? Or a 3rd party app? Asking cuz the built in sprint app does not seem to work on a lot of the roms I have tried out, simply downloading a 3rd party app from market should work. I have been using svtp lite with no issues at all, in fact, I think with the built in app, you cant use ur data on the phone, while broadcasting wifi, but with svtp lite u can use the hotspot, and data on phone at same time.
