No More Low Space Warning!

I have to say that coming from the Droid Incredible to the Galaxy Nexus what I don't miss in the least is the low space warning.

I have more apps and data on my Gnex than I ever did on my Dinc and it is a wonderful thing not worrying about low space.
 
Ditto. I opened the thread expecting to find myself saying "dude, what on earth did you load that took up THAT much space, that you can't live without?!". Happily not the case. And with cloud apps, etc, it's nice to not have to really even think about space on the phone for things any more.

Likewise. And thank god that's not what this thread was about. That absurd error is the reason I may never buy an HTC device again. To allow such a crippling error (can't sync any Google apps?!) to occur incorrectly and never address it with a software update was simply offensive.
 
Sorry, didn't mean to scare you guys. I was simply elated last night while going through my apps that I've yet to see that stupid warning. I figured others could rejoice with me.

Same on both. I thought "Oh no, not again" as I was clicking the thread. And I didn't even consider the Rezound because of the low application space thing on the Dinc. That's just ridiculous.
 
I called HTC about the low storage issue after I started seeing an "incredible" number of complaints about it. Like most people, I thought "geez, I must have some huge apps loaded!" But after realizing that that wasn't the case... Well you all know the story.
They told me to connect my phone to a PC and use this link

and follow the instructions.
Turns out I can't do it from work, so I plan to try it tonight when I get home. Has anyone else seen this site or tried this fix? I agree with some comments from above that it was a HUGE mistake to push an update that would cause that kind of problem.
 
I agree. I never had that many apps, but I still got it. Was always frustrating to deal with. No more!

It really was a love / hate relationship. I loved the device, LOVED the screen, liked the Sense UI, but HATED dealing with the low on space error.

As soon as I noticed that the error caused my data sync to stop, that was the deal breaker for me. Countless hard resets and 3 DI's later, VZ finally shipped me a DX.
Oh the irony because now I get that message on the DX as well. Fortunately for me, my G Nex arrives today. :)

Yea, HTC really dropped the ball on that. Thankfully they realized their error and haven't made the same mistake.

thanks NightAngel, I did my research on the issue back when I had the DI but simply to appease the guys at VZ I did the resets in order to have them ship me a replacement.
I was hoping it was an issue that didn't affect ALL DI's but after 3 I threw in the towel. :(

Just picked up my G Nex tonight and I'm hoping I never have to hear the words "low on space" again. :)
 
What killed me on the dinc was the /data vs. /data/data and some (stupid) apps (*cough* netflix *cough*) putting app libraries into /data/data instead of /data with the app itself. The /data/data partition on the Inc was relatively tiny, so it would fill up all the time for me. As I was running cm7, I'm not sure if the low space warning was talking about /data or /data/data, but at least you guys got a warning. With cm7, as soon as /data/data filled up, pretty much every app I would try to open would FC! I had to get lucky on running an uninstaller app to ditch an app or two or boot recovery (CWM) and do it the hard way...

Either way, yes I'm very glad to not have this problem on the Nexus. :)
 
The low space warning is what steered me away from the Rezound. I know that it was an "Incredible Only" issue but I couldn't get past the fact that I had to live with it for twenty months. I didn't trust HTC to do the right thing if something like that popped up again.
 
Ok. Here's an update on my "out of space" saga.
I took my phone to a Verizon wireless store. I started to explain the issue to the tech. He didn't even let me finish my explanation. He said he'd replace my phone with the same. I asked about upgrading, but he said I was eligible for a new phone in May. It's now April. He said there are a lot of cool things coming, maybe I should wait. I'm waiting. Meanwhile,I did get a replacement and it's been working fine for the last couple of weeks. I LOVE MY HTC DROID INCREDIBLE AGAIN!
