Help No ota update?

Hi. I just purchased a new Nexus 4 from Amazon and it has 4.4.2 ROM. "Check for update" button does not update to 4.4.4. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK. This seems bad. But I don't really know too much at this point.

It won't necessarily update immediately; give it a few days before giving up on the OTA.

It's probably best not to jump to conclusions just yet.

I have not had any problems work Amazon like that yet, but who knows. It does have a flawless factory screen protector with the volume buttons and power. I think the previous poster had the right idea. I just turned it on yesterday. Let's see. Kinda sucks though. L

It should have updated immediately. Did Amazon themselves provide the unit or did one of Amazon's affiliates provide it?

If you go to menu>settings>about phone what is the build number you are showing? You should always be able to flash a stock rom and get everything working.

Shouldn't have to manually flash it. If it's a legitimate new or even refurbished Nexus it would immediately update as soon as it established a data connection. Could be something fishy going on or a defective unit.

I know. I suspect fishy, that's why I wanted to see the build number.

Is it possible that something is fishy? What could be wrong? I am comfortable with flashing Roms and gapps but that was why I got the nexus. Vanilla flavor without the stability issues roms can have.

I will let you know how that works out.
Or.
Is it OK to do it myself without problems? Root and flash?
I really don't care If it is"hot" or something else as long as it works. What would y'all do?

Before I did anything else, I would make sure the IMEI number is good. Even if it's good now, it could get blacklisted later if there's funny business going on. Then you're stuck with a brick. I'd send this back in a heartbeat. Have you put in a SIM and activated it?

Just noticed something bad. I trusted Amazon and did not look at the Imei on the Sim card tray which does not match. Something is fishy. Stolen Imei?

This sucks. Thankfully, I have not put on my screen protector.
Unfortunately, I already gave my old phone to a friend to be a nice guy. Now I get it. I finish last.
