Got miui installed and I have no ringtone or notification tone on my phone now. If I open up settings and then select ringtone all I get is a force close. Any suggestions? Need help on this one. Business day and got to have my ringer.

Doing a Dalvik cache wipe and reflashing MIUI might help

You can use a third party app like Ringdroid to change the ring tone at the moment. There is certainly a bug that was introduced in the last update. So either downgrade to the previous version (1.8.5) or use another app to change it.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone! I did all the wipes before doing the install...including the dalvik wipe.

Where can I get the previous version at? Also, if I am on 1.8.12, to install the previous version I just reboot into cwr and install it? And to get into cwr do I need a certain terminal app to get there or will any do?

Ringdroid question. Downloaded and installed it, but it just looks like a ringtone recorder/editing program...how to you set your phone ringtone with Ringdroid? I already have my custom ringtones on my sdcard.

Do you have mount the system in cwr during the installation?

MIUI.us_Shadow_1.7.22_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed_Framework43.zip I uploaded the best version IMO the original .22 flash the patch as well MIUI.us_Shadow_1.7.22.1_Framework43-signed.zip

And I think you can just flash over since it will replace all the files. I am going to try it in a second and edit the post to let you know.

To boot into recovery get ROM manager and flash the clockworkmod for the droid x 2nd init. Then reboot recovery. NO droid x/2 bootstrap.

With Ringdroid open it and all the files you see there should be every media file you have on your phone. system ringtones/notifications are at the bottom of the list. Long press on which one you want to apply then it will say set as default notification/ringtone depending on what it is.

Never mounted system in CWM but like I said I will let you know.

What does the patch do?

At this point, just trying to get my phone back in a working state...lol! Went back to GB and flashed one of my GB backups and then stuck in boot loop on the M screen. So, sbfing again. Dang, this is taking more time than I wanted to spend :)

Thanks for the help1

Download those two files. The first one is the original .22 and the second is the patch for .22.1. Be on .340 stock rooted and bootstrapped. Wipe data/cache. Install the first then the second file. reboot and you should be good to go. That's the best version IMO

Ok, thanks! I am back to stock .340 right now. Does the camera and market work in this version?

Never had them not work. With the camera the widescreen doesn't work but just up the resolution and you're good to go. With the market I never had a problem

Ok, thanks!

Reading through the hundreds of posts in the miui thread, it's hard to find what all has been fixed.

Well keep in mind that this is the original version with the patch out. There are three other versions that followed this but I've found this one to be the best with no airplane mode bug

So, does this version do mainly all the things the current version does minus the current bugs?

I assume upgrading from the 1.7.22 to the most current is just a simple boot into recovery (or rom manager) and install the .zip? I have to get use to using rom manager...never had a need for it before now :)

The ONLY difference that I can personally tell between this build and the current is a slight increase in battery life. But this build is better because I haven't experienced the but with loosing data. And yeah updating is as easy as that.

And you don't have to use ROM manger for everything, just to get into recovery :D
