Root No sleep has nothing to do with anything

While testing 1.6 firmwares, i had the bug on daily basis. My logcat outputs are in one of the 2 million 'no sleeping' bug threads, but they arent really helpfull.
The problem is: Absoluty nothing in the logcat shows a strange behavior during the sleep bug.

from my experience, the no sleep bug is related to using the 'mobile networks" for locaation. I enable that and then according to spare parts app the phone doesn't sleep. I have to disable it and restart the phone.

Let me tell you my experiences in using the Samsung i7500 Galaxy.
While I used the 1.5 software i7500XXIJ1 battery lasted me 90 hours of normal use, and very little use of WLAN (I turned off everything that consumes the battery. Using 2G,).
Yesterday I upgraded to 1.6 PDA: i7500XXJC2, phone: i7500XXJB2, CSc. i7500TWOJC,
I immediately noticed that the software is bugged. USB bug (can not turn off the notification tone when connecting the charger), dialer tone bug (sound too low), it is impossible to log on Gmail account (Factory data reset needed second time).
Once charged my phone, I used it a couple of hours, occasional calls and messages.
Today, after 25 hours of up time, battery reading was 93%, after a few hours I had the occasional phone calls, and in the evening I surfed a little, market, google maps. I left my phone in two hours and the battery was at 70% and after 10 minutes at 63%. discharging very quickly. I am interested in whether you tried to check whith this code * # * # 4636 # * # * Check the temperature of the battery to me a moment was at 4.6

dont give a cent on this, since battery seems to have no sensor for temperature... you can imagine that a battery wont be cooler than surrounding temp...

i had flash my device with ik5 baseband (phone) as the 3g dropping out for 5 mins every 300k was getting on my nerves.
I can confirm that using an 1.5 baseband on 1.6 does not fix no sleep bug

Any more info about this? Some thread on another forum? Looks promising but don't have 1.6 so can't try.

It changes every apk file, and a lot of framework files. I don't doubt it can help but I would like more info about the changes, is it compatible with Galaxo (since drakaz makes a lot of changes now that the sources are here, some changes apks and jars could cause trouble in galaxo), a word or two from the author of patch, source code of changes so that drakaz can include it etc. I'm not willing to just patch a fix without knowing it's background.

The changes apply to "services", however all files in this package depend on each other. ("services" is in the framework)

It is compatible with Galaxo:
- All changes made in galaxo look to be in scripts, configuration or packaging
- All galaxo files have been resigned, so you should reset to defaults after applying the fix

Note: First boot will be longer (depending on the number of applications you have).

In the process of modifying the sources and getting rid of the WAKE LOCK in Location Manager, I came across this: android.git.kernel.org Git - platform/frameworks/base.git/commit

woohoo, if thats the fix, then this would mean we blamed samsung for something that was never their fault, but was a general android bug... did nobody hear of this bug accuring on other 1.6 phones?

jakax can you provide a mirror of your patch? it seems it is not accessible on megauploads...
and also can you provide some info on how to apply the patch? do we have to use apply any zip from sd in recovery?

"any zip from sd" should work too. I think it should work if you copy I7500-locationmanager-fix.zip as update.zip to your sdcard and run "Apply sdcard:update.zip", then "Wipe data". But I did not test it.

i am waiting for propper audio hack on galaxo 1.6.3.x, whereas i guess this fix will be already included in the release ;-)

I was going to try this patch, but applying as update.zip doesn't work. It's missing the needed metadata.
