Help No video chat option in Google Talk on 2.3.4?

Marrr

Newbie
Am i being a pleb?

i cannot see the option to use Video chat with the official 2.3.4 update via Kies?

Am i doing anything wrong or has it been removed?

When you open Talk, video-enabled contacts should have a green camera-shaped status icons against their name rather than the normal circle. There should also be video calling-related notification options in Settings. If these are absent then it would appear that it's been removed from the update for the GS2.

after one or two early 2.3.4 leaked firmwares included google video chat, it was removed from all firmwares ive used since, god knows why, coz it worked perfectly. there's an update on xda, i'll try finding it and post back, that works on 2.3.4 although it seemed to screw things up on my current 2.3.5... u need to be rooted though

here's the update if ur rooted n u wanna try

same issue here with my s2. After a battle to get KIES to finally 'recognize' my phone, and almost 4 hrs to update my phone. I found out the video chat was disabled. so i ask myself, why then did i bother going through all that? i think the main difference between the firmware i had (2.3.3, i believe) was video chat. at this rate, i am 60% sure that if my next smart fon is an adroid one , it isnt gonna be a samsung. maybe MOTO with stock android will highly be considered. even an iPhone

the biggest difference between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 for me was the battery life :D its far superior on all official firmware running 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 now. although i too find it really weird that google video chat isnt included in this.. but dont let that keep u away from samsung, theyre really coming up with some of the best smartphones on the market now :) maybe the ice cream sandwich update will have it :D
