Root Noob to Android Phones

Your welcome and good job! Does the unbrick work well? I have not tried it, and I want to see if this rom is blocking my 4g. Anyway hope everything else works out.

I can attest the GTG's ultimate unbrick works like a charm, in fact i have used it some many times that I just do it now without looking at the directions. I even received ATT's latest update after the last return to stock.

Yea took less than 4 min and it was done.

Startup is like first time use - have to provide your google account

My Titanium backup was there and was able to restore all the way back.

It was just finding the drivers that would recognize the Infuse 4G as a COM device that was making me pull my hair out.

Completed Infuse 2.1 upgrade

Firmware 2.3.3
Baseband I997UCKE3
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622
Build v2.1.0

I am doing a restore with Titanium for missing apps with data

Nice, but just saying the Gingerbread leak UCKI3 just came out, it is in beta. The rom is supposed to give full speeds, 30fps recording, and hdmi pared with its kernel. Gtg may just be introducing the first custom rom that is ATT Gingerbread soon...

Im just going through things and getting my screens set back up.

I thought this ROM was superior in battery life and recharge speeds and yet I have dropped 8% in like 45 minutes.

Are you on infused 2.1 and what are some of the benefits that you think stand out?

Ok well if your battery is draining quick, then just reboot and it may fix it. Ok well benifits, are video calling, stableness with the Adrenaline shot on XDA, and just plain fun showing other people how great my phone has become from what it was ha. It does web pages and other things extremely well and smooth, something that i have only other seen on my ipod. Trust me, with this smoothness I would never go back to my ipod. Battery life I will say is pretty good for me, I do have the occasional bad boot. It is hard for me to run down the battery with a full day's use usually.

Well I have been off charger now for 4 hours and im at 78% so it does seem to be doing better today.

Juicedefender says im operating at 166% battery life right now

It does not quite have the features that my friends stock GB install (Sprint Network) but it does seem to be faster and very nice.

Im wondering what other software can I add now while im rooted and infused :)

I am definitely happy though! No doubt...

Well there is not much more software you should try. There are tweaks and modems though. Go ahead and ask if you are not sure what these are.

Yea overclocking was something i was thinking about

Go ahead, this is not that hard if you want. 2.2 is out! Go ahead and get it its very easy to install I just did it. Anyway kernel flashing is easier, as you can just use sgs kernel flasher, just make sure to do a Nandroid this time ha.

I was good with my Titanium.
The whole headache came from trying to find the right USB drivers.

Are you talking 2.2 Infused or just a kernel update?

I see that ROM ver 2.2.2 has been released.

Im on 2.1 now and was wondering if goint to the latest will cause me to loose user data like going to 2.1 did?

Oh no haha as long as you do the upgrade, not installing the whole thing again. Just read through it, and you will figure it out. If you download it straight to the device, it will go in the download folder so go to that when you go into clockwork (like it says). If you want faster speeds, go to 2.2.1. If you need gps, 2.2.2. I do not think there is a choice now though... if you need 2.2.1 for some reason i can post the upgrade file.

I also had to use the Ultimate Unbrick. It worked like a charm. I thought I had deleted the recovery file but apparently hadn't. Being stuck in a boot loop can be scary. Thank you for your help.

You also need to do that 2.0.1 kernel too right?

mike, Nope :D. i was infusion-gb 1.1 when upgrading... So as long as you are on a 2.3 kernel you should be just fine.

Also, i have a few questions if anyone can answer thanks:
1. Just a what if...what if i try to flash a 2.2 kernel while im running a 2.3 rom?
2. So to go from infused 2.2.3 to infused 2.2.1 i just download 2.2.0-2.2.1 and flash??? No need for a 2.2.3-2.2.1??

*THought i would post this.

WOOHOO First brick!! i was trying to get the sgsII touchwiz4.0 and found some website that told me to flash this random zip so i did...then i got stuck in a bootloop where it just kept staying on the samsung splash...Got into CWM and restoring at the moment hopefully i wont have to try Odin...fingers crossed. lol heart pumping xD adrenaline rush...Kinda scared but in the back of my head i know this thread has real life witness of odin getting it back to stock...wheww

EDIT: YES!!! CWM ftw! I happened to wisely do a nandroid backup right b4 screwing up and am now back to where i was. Phew all in a days work. :) OMG if only u guys knew hoe releived i feel right now :D

Ha Mohammad I got in a bootloop too, but installing another touchwiz 4. But just next time, you do not have to restore from odin. Just hold both volume buttons and power button until the samsung screen, then it will boot into red cwm. Then you can restore from there. That is what I did, but I had an error with the init.d folder, causing what it seemed like a full system crash resetting everything every once in a while, making me have to restore from nandroid. All I had to do to fix this is to install the S.A.S. tweak just replacing everything in that folder, fixing everything. Anyway if you flash a 2.2 kernel it will simply probably get bricked bigtime, as you need the right kernel to run the phone. And yes just flash the update (for you a downgrade). That's what I did, and it worked.

Loool "bricked bigtime?". That's hilarious. K ill try to get 2.2.1 hopefully I'm not bricked again. Meanwhile I'm gonna start a touchwiz thread

Ha yea like you have to use the ultimate unbrick, there is no other way haha sorry I sometimes have bad word choice. Anyway you do not have to downgrade! Try entropy's daily driver it restored my data speeds and now i am getting an average of 7.5 mb per test! Even though it does not have overclocking, I would rather have higher data speeds because I rarely need overclocking, but fast internet.
